I LOVE the look of my 18" front wheel but its twitchy, and I have it loaded with that shoei fairing, I always think about putting a 19" back on the front but I just love the look of the 18" too much. I should swap the black wheels on this bike onto my gold k1 and the silver wheels on the k1 onto this black bike...

Now, THAT would be a great look! :D

I have Lester 18" front on a K1 and don't find it twitchy at all...just a lot more flickable than one with a 19".  The bike feels so much less top heavy too...only other chassis mods are Koni dial-adjust rear shocks and Race Tech springs and a Telefix fork brace up front.
If it works good, it looks good...

Cylinders are bored out, ran me $60 per hole plus 20 to get it decked. Bike should be rebuilt and running here in a couple weeks im thinking just in time for some consistent warm dry weather.

3 weeks of school left so im geeked...the K1 is going up to the shop at the same time so both bikes are gonna get cranked out.

I accidentally installed the 110 rear on the k1 instead of the 120, im gonna pull that off and install the 120....the 110 can go onto the k0 500 if anything.

When I first put the Avons (in this current tread pattern) on my 750, the shop could only get 110 size for the rear. It was adequate for 1-up riding, but after about 4k miles I went up 5 PSI in pressure because it was wearing like an overloaded tread. It handled well with the 100/90 on the front, giving a bit more trail. The extra height of the 120/90 version I switched it with later makes the steering noticeably quicker (less trail), but I can run lower air PSI in it. I was running 44+ PSI in the 110 before I saw the correct tread wear pattern show up. The 120/90 version runs with 38 (solo rider) to 42 (2-up) PSI.

Yeah, my bad Centreville is in May.  Let me know what 750 parts you need.  I will be selling stuff.  If you are that close, I highly reccomend a trip to Gilmore museum.  It is fantastic.  I was just down your way back in March, snagged up a $600 K7.  Already got it roadworthy and moved it along to another.

yea that would be a 100 mile trip, not too bad. Heck it is an hour to get to a sams club or costco anyway, which I kinda LIKE really ;-).

I'm gonna be at crystal mountain middle of next month, i'm gonna be riding out there as long as the weather holds. My gf has a conference out there and we gonna stick around and go to traverse city over the weekend., I'm for sure gonna hit Gilmores and mid Ohio, There are 2-3 more that Phil mentions every year that I haven't been able to visit yet, they will probably be a little better now that were out of the pandemic....Ill get the names of those other bike shows and relay them.

Hey man!  Me and my buds do a motorcycle trip up around Traverse City  every Memorial day weekend.  There is a LOT of good  riding all around there.  Go explore the Leelanaw Peninsula.  Nothing quite like it anywhere else, especially in Michigan.  If you can spend a day riding, I will come show you some of what I have found.  You WILL be thankful to be on a motorcycle up there once you see these roads!

I Purchased an early model 65mm head gasket (small holes) and had grabbed a later model set of cylinders off the shelf with the larger holes to be bored out....smh what a mistake to make.

so of course the cheapest course of action is buy the correct head gasket, but they are sold out everywhere except for the cycle-X MLS gasket.

So i'm ordering that, 4 STD exhaust valve guides, and a DID cam chain....total close to $300 bucks....all needing to be ordered from different vendors paying three shipping charges. I'll have to get the head decked as well which is not really a big deal and can happen while I wait, but both surfaces should get decked if im gonna use an MLS gasket.

edit: bike parts are all in, lets get this moving forward. I just wanna ride, Im kinda sick of trying to keep bikes looking nice so im just gonna slap #$%* back together and ride my bike....I was going to try repainting stuff but maybe I can do another full restoration in a bit.

Quick update. The motor is out of the bike and on a bench, its covered in oil and looks filthy, this rebuild is very much needed. One thing I noticed was air bubbles coming out of one side of the petcock, which tells me the lid is not venting, which makes me thing maybe thats the culprit for my bike dropping cylinders and dying on me since the end of last season. I hope thats all the issue is so I dont have to replace electrical components. The other thing I found was I have 5 broken rear spokes so this wheel MUST be rebuilt....I can do what I did in 2020 and buy a cheap 30 dollar set of chrome spokes or get some nice SS spokes to match the front wheel.

While sitting around looking at the empty frame, I thought to myself maybe I should just install the cbrf-2 front end and rear wheel on here, I wouldn't have to deal with spokes anymore and all I would really wanna do is design a nice upper triple for the that front end with risers.

For reference: if an 18", 40-spoke wheel loses 4 spokes, it loses 25% of strength. If it loses 6 spokes this jumps to 40%. (Old roadracer notes.)

It is less severe with shorter spokes (like 16" rear wheels that were popular in the 1970s for heavy 2-up touring at 55 MPH), worse with longer ones (19" wheels).

Opened my motor up, I got this motor about 5 years ago and wasn't sure if it had ever been opened up before. Well, It's been opened up before.

Cam towers were loose, one of the cam sprocket bolts was basically almost completed threaded out, my motor would have blown up.

I wonder how long #$%* has been loose in there, this bike has ran so damn well for the last 4 years im shocked to have found it in the condition we found it in.

Needed to replace 3 intake valves and 2 exhaust valves, got the head decked today as well....should have the new jugs and pistons installed tomorrow.

Rear spokes were delivered will probably build my wheel over the weekend.

That's pretty common failure stuff.  I have always been told to loctite those tiny little cam sprocket bolts...and make sure the threads are still real healthy for the cam tower bolts

Motor is done, I've got myself an 836 kit ya'll!

The pistons looked like they were getting lots of #$%* passed the piston rings all the pistons pretty much looked like the one in the picture.....the pistons were pretty dirty. I left the jugs and the valve cover bare aluminum. The three bolts my fingers are on in the pic are the three that were loose when we opened up the motor. I'll have to drop the oil pan and see/clean out the shavings from the bolt that came loose on the cam sprocket, it kinda shaved some of the inside of the valve cover away.

Got the wheel lacing started, need to grab a new tube though as I broke the valve stem on the tube I have.

The only thing really left is the o ring where the neutral switch attaches under the motor, it's leaking.

After this is back together its time to figure out why my bike was dropping two cylinders, I mentioned before I saw air bubbles coming out of one of the petcock brass nipples, maybe its not venting and im not getting fuel....fingers crossed thats the issue...or something easy like swapping coils.

I took my gas tank off and was getting poor flow from one of the brass Nipples but when i opened the lid it got better solid flow from both nipples.

I have a gas cap made by the much maligned 4:1 and I have to burp the tank now and then.

just ordered one from them.

Here is what it looks like inside, came apart easily pretty much. That little wad of cotton or some such fibrous material is/was the issue...it covers a tiny hole and maybe prevents fluid from escaping. I reduced the qty and it works "better" but still imperfect.

I just experienced the same issue with a "new" fuel cap for a customers bike.  The bike was getting inconsistent fuel flow and would stall out till popping the cap for releasing the vapor-lock.
I tried to dissemble it but seemed to have some pretty firm loctite on the threads so I ended up just drilling a tiny vent hole all the way threw both layers of the inner cap.   =/
