Have done the planned winter jobs on this bike.
Changed needle jets and needle heights. Need test ride to verify. If OK, dyno.

New front and rear tires. Replaced brake shoes.
Adjusted charging regulator and installed the voltmeter as my K2 got last year. Work perfectly to verify how the charging system work, regulator especially.

Did the clutch yesterday after work. Later deeper with double metal disc for less rattle placed in the middle of the pack. The only rattle my engine had was when u-turning bike to left when taking off, especially when warm.

Splined shaft on primary hub in the thicker range making basket to sit very tight. Puller needed to take basket off. No play at all when basket is mounted on the splined shaft.
The snap ring holding basket on splined shaft took time to get in its tight place. I finally got it right with help of 2 small screwdrivers to bend with as wrenching on a tire.

I flipped snap ring  (circlip) with rounded side inwards, so the sharp edge grip the groove better for outwards movement. Basket can not move inwards.

I think my K2 has a combo with play since it rattles when idlling. Disappear when.using the clutch

I had a complete F2 clutch since a few years.
It was only the outer steel basket and inner alu hub that differ from K6 clutch. These parts about 2 mm deeper. The pressure plate with 4 towers for springs is the same.

I had prepared an F2 cover since I knew it must have space enough for the wider clutch.

Surprise!! I could not measure any difference on my F2 cover I had removed the black paint on and the cover my bike had before. Even the old stock K6 cover look the same. I searched the forum and found the answer.

It is only a casted nob sticking up beside the kick shaft. A boss for cover screw.
Early has a higher rounded tip while later has a flat and little bit lower.
I have NOS early cover I could compare with.

Honda must have used later cover on K6 that has the lower steel basket and lower alu hub.

I prepared the F2 cover when not needed. It has no paint, extra breather and new oil seals. For my other engine build getting 900cc.

Hi PeWe, where is this clutch pressure plate from? I don't know what I've done wrong in the past but I've snapped 2 of the ears off pressure plates trying to get to the reccomended torque values with tightening the pressure plate in the past. (first i may have gone too quickly, second I was very surprised when I snapped it)

Bought mine from UK.
https://good-bits.co.uk/product/cb750-sohc-clutch-actuating-hub/

Very important to tighten each bolt a little in a cross pattern.
Especially when springs start to compress. 1/4 turn each time so plate goes on parallel and flat without bending. Same when disassemble.

There are other strong alternatives in US too which has been up in the forum.

Updated bike with a mirror model my K6 had in the 80's.
Stock shiny CB750 mirrors look good but do not work as good as Z1 mirrors.

Stock CB 750 show mostly my arms, Z1 is a little taller and vibrate less. I hope these will work as the old Z1 mirrors did in the 80's.

Bike parked for winter.
Gave it a final wash. It became very dirty at last ride to - from dyno shop.
Rain wet roads that must have got mud in the wet.

Only polish left.

Thanks!
I like it too despite its original color was a little bit lighter, more turquoise.
Not long after I had got the tank and side covers from Yamiya they had a flake model of Candy Sapphire Blue. I had ordered flake if available when I ordered ;)

It became a little bit deeper blue today after a wash with wax.
I lightly rubbed and polished the paint a year ago to wake up the color.
Tank entered the bike 2015 and have done around 40.000km. Always parked in warm garage when not riding helps ;)

The candy sapphire blue on the S90 was a lighter color, must have been the flake variant... Some colors are really affected a lot by the color of the primer or base they are sprayed over...

I've never seen many of the Candy Sapphire Blue but the one on your CB750 has a very 'Bright-wake me up' look to it,even without having metalFlake.  8)

Finally a good jetting that seems to work well. Dyno AFR will show how good.

New needles really helped.
I should have digged deeper in the Mikuni docs I have had since 2019 where the TMR32 needle model is shown with TMR variants, needle series 9.
(9 means +90mm in lenghts, a series 7 as an example is in the 70mm range.)

9D3-52 stamped on needle (aka J8-9D03-52)

Works well with:
Pilot Air Jet 130
Pilot jet 27.5
Fuel screws  opened 3/4
Needle jet P1
Needle height 4:6

Main jet 142.5

### Update ###
Later updated after carb clean.
Fuel additive, strong mix 230km ride. Fuel screws had to be reduced.
Pilot jets one step smaller. PAJ 1 step bigger. Carbs blown free with compressed air via PAJ holes when replaced.

Engine not changed/updated since late 2022. Always Shell V-Power fuel only.

PAJ 135
Pilot 25
Fuel screws 1/2 + 1/8
Needle jet P1
Needles 9D3-52
Needle height 4.5:6
(M3 washer 0.5mm thick up nder needle clip.)
Main jet 145

Dirt in carbs from the non filtered PAJ era. Carbs first years did not have 2 vent tubes either. Insects can enter

Carb and Injection cleaning additive was added to one tank.
Strong mix.
Fuel screws had to be reduced after around 200km on one ride.
Additional cleaning, smaller pilot and PAJ 135 replaced stock 130. More air into pilot circuit mix.

Less pilot will also affect needle area and up. Compensated needles, raised 1/2 notch by washers.

Guide line

New grips for next year. Old were worn.

Over  9000 rpm on dyno.
Not much hp slowed down at 9400rpm.

Torque is good so enough to rev to 8000rpm.
But on 2nd and 3rd when twisting full It's easy to gear after 9000 when that can happen rather quick ;)

I need to think about the engine's health and longetivety. It is a street bike after all.

Dyno from last month.
I'll see next year how the better and leaner needles will affect the curves.

Good news! ;)
I have been concerned about my front wheel and its runout.

Not measured as when wheel is off bike without tire, but the eventual wobble was the interesting part.

Measured on bike and I decided to not adjust anything when runout is less than +/- 0.5mm.

Tire had a little bit more.

When front end feels light or unstable in higher speed, oil viscosity, cc, and spring pretension to adjust.

Photos from videos I made.

No centerstand did not stop me ;)

Per..... is your tire seated perfectly on the rim? Not long ago, I had a Kenda that always felt weird on my K1, rear. It just would not sit properly in the rim. About 1/4 of one sidewall, one side only, was not quite out all the way. The tiny trace line around the side wall was not quite symmetrical. I finally broke the bead and significantly heated the area with a heat gun, applied lots of the correct “tire lube” and it slid into place. The little “wobble” I had completely disappeared.

P.S. That colour looks great!

I just want to ask an un-related question: what width is your front rim ?

I use Murphy's tire bead lube, the same stuff they use in the auto-tire places.

Thanks for the comments guys.
The tire is a Michelin Road Classic 100/90-19" on 2.15"-19" alu rim. Rather new tire model from Michelin, sale start January 2021.

Same model rear, but 130/90-18" on 3.0"-18" rim. Still have ok handling despite a little flat. 4675 km so far, it might survive 6000 km. All my tires were usually done before that, often max 5000km.
2 dyno runs caused some additional wear too.

I have a new tire of same model in my garage waiting to be assembled.
Plus a stock sized rear Metzeler Perfect ME77 to my brown K2.
Ordered in time while available, tires will probably not become cheaper either.

Tire sit as good it can, not much more runout when measure on tire, just a little more. Maybe around +/-0.15mm more than the rim. Measured at the area not in contact with road without grooves

I used tire assembly lube when mounted it, overfilled it to 5BAR to make it seat, most air out direct.
Did this twice and finally to 2.1 BAR. Honda label say 2.1BAR as max which I have found work fine. Much more will give a too hard feeling.

Just a little more and less need to refill for a longer period ;)

I have had tires before that did not seat correctly, a real bumper. With good amount of tire assembly lube it will not happen. I make sure that the tire's molded lines close to rim are parallel to rim edge.

My front tire before this had a strange bumpy wear.
Fork was very jumpy and flexy at higher speed.

That's why I double check runout again. The alu rims got a set of thicker spokes and nipples than stock with tight fitting in rims holes.
Not as easy as stock rim/spokes to true. Rear have use of a sturdier wheel.

My long time project making the carbs to run as good as possible is probably done now with better needles.
So I can ride a little bit slower without abrupt use of throttle that often ;)

I'll see if next rear can survive closer to 7000km ;)

The blue color is very forgiving. It will look good even when not super clean.
I gave it a light rubbing and wax polish a year ago making the blue color deeper. Yamiya clear paint does not feel very thick so not much rubbing.

After that quick washes with sponges with inbuilt schampoo-wax when needed.
I use Sonax Extreme Active Schampoo direct on wet sponge when really dirty and lots of dried insects.
An endless war with insects.

A ride after a good clean, gauges, headlight and mirrors are covered with hundreds of  kamikaze insects. My leathers too ;)

I'll check oil in fork. I had earlier the level at 160mm from top with fork completely collapsed without springs. Recommendation with the progressive springs (Wirth).
That was more oil than Honda stock.
Last change closer to stock level, Motul SAE 10 synth.
I'll verify the level again, 160mm from top that worked well before.
Stable front during heavy acceleration on all gears passing 200kmh on speedo. On a straight road of course, frame is not improved for tough riding.
One smaller road rather bumpy though, its design tease me most of the rides, "wanna make needle to reach 200 before the max 160kmh long curve?" (130kmh is the safer choice and still fun)

I usually blame the cars that block the road.
Higher speed needed to  pass several cars at once giving the road clear from ride destroyers that follow the signs marked 80 (50mph). Cruise in 100-120kmh is more relaxing and still fun.

Fields beside road with hares, deers maybe cars from side roads.

Better to ckeck oil in fork now than in season.
Why not today? ;D
