Greetings from the frozen north
« on: February 06, 2007, 09:30:26 PM »
Hello all, and greetings from Kitchener, Ontario, Canada

Just got myself a '74 CB750 in a typical rusty dilapidated state and look forward to slapping it back into shape, as soon as it warms up a bit around here.

Great forum here, I've already learned a ton of stuff!

 Don

Welcome, Donzon!  If you've got a semi-warm place to work, you may have enough time to get the work in before riding season.  By the way, your fair city wasn't named for Lord Kitchener was it?  Just a guess; he's the only Kitchener I ever heard of.

Welcome, and do post some pics. Even if you don't post them now, take some so you have a before-and-after record for yourself so you have a better appreciation of your efforts after the fact.  ;)

Thanks for the welcome!

I'll get some pics ( before/after) up at some point.  The bike is sitting in a relatives garage right now, so I may be able to do some preliminary work before the season starts.  No garage at my place, and at -15 degrees C.  nothings gonna get done here!!

City was originally named Berlin, but they named it after Lord Kitchener after WW1 following all the anti- German sentiment.  Strange considering the largely German population around here at the time.

Hey Don,

It's a balmy 8 degrees here in Portland Maine...

I can't wait for things to thaw out enough to get my new ride home...

Interestingly, my family name was Weisner until WWI whereupon they changed it to Wessner for the same reason. Do you think it fooled anyone? ??? ;D
