Did Santa bring any fun stuff?
« on: December 27, 2020, 03:34:47 PM »
The jolly old elf was good to me, I got firebird parts, a gold tank set and a Savage Mark ii 22 lr. thumbhole stock target rifle.  I actually got a couple of those myself.

If your better half got one of those leather Frye purses for Christmas, grab the soft drawstring bag that came with it. It's sweet to keep your favorite welding or motorcycle helmet in.  We even got a tie dye drawstring bag as a gift with matching tee shirts. I haven't snagged that bag yet but I can see it living in a gl1000 saddlebag with my jacket in it.

I borrowed my wife's least favorite new/old leather purse to try to use as a lead shot bag to pound out a dent. I didn't use it but I was sure that hint would take ahold. Suddenly she loves that new/old purse.
If that's not enough, I didn't get one and I'm using a canvas bank bag instead. Which, by that way is the best thing I ever tried. I saved a chrome single cut front fender with it and a modified red/green rubber headed hammer.

No bike stuff, but I did just order a brand new U-Turn Orbit turntable and new speakers for my music room. I haven't had a nice vinyl setup in almost 20 years, and my wife's old turntable she got in college just isn't cutting it anymore, so I figured it was time.  Unfortunately it won't be here until sometime in February, but it's worth the wait.

Thx Don.
It's so original, I really dont want to do anything to it [other than bars].
Which is so different for me as most bikes I've bought were restoration projects.

It really is an IMPRESSIVE bike!  [actually, not really, Fenders was wrong!]

Santa told me to order stuff from Dynoman.
-Who can say no to the big man? ;)
When package arrive I'll change RCS base gasket from 0.02" to 0.01". This job also depends on a head not yet finalized at a nearby shop restoring/upgrading it.

Waiting for reply from a rim/wheel shop so I can order wider alloy rims with spokes. Hubs are done, waiting.

I sold a not much used 900cc piston kit yesterday so I got some refunds. Needed when follow Santa's orders! ;D

Apparently Santa has a set of LED 69 Firebird taillights on backorder for me.  WooHoo! They can work like the old Thunderbird turn signals blinking from inside to outside and I believe the brake lights may be programmed also.

My 836 had an abnormally low deck height, I went with it but after missing a shift and tagging a new valve, I bought ape springs/retainers and stacked two base gaskets. Thicker ones would be better. Since I went to all that trouble I put in the KH/F cam. L0L!

You still have the F cam in?
- It runs fine all over the rpm range or has it most power after 6000 rpm?

My pistons are under the top of the block. They need to come up a little.
Pistons are flush with mating surface without base gasket if I remember correctly. Thinnest head gasket will then create a squish ring of 1mm where piston meet head.
