Congratulations, PeWe.  I'm right behind you.

Ride #21 - 102 miles.

This is the weekend of the Harvest Classic Motorcycle Rally in Lukenbach, TX.  I rode down this morning and met Stev-o and a few of the other guys from the forum.  We rode to the Alamo Springs Cafe for lunch.  I forgot to take a pic of my giant hamburger.  We did a short loop through Sisterdale, TX before heading back to Lukenbach, but I kept going and headed for home.  The others are camping at the rally.  I didn't take many photos today.  One is a scuplture in Lukenbach that I had never seen before.  It must be new.  The other is in the parking lot where we had lunch.

I'll be back in Lukenbach tomorrow, for ride #22.  I'll think we'll have a few more riders with us.  We'll be riding back up past my house and stopping at another place for lunch that has lots of bikes on display.  There's a bike show at the rally tomorrow afternoon, so I'll be taking lots of pics.

Ride 22 137 miles

I’m feeling fortunate to join the party that is going on here. The weatherman was right and even though it was 29f this morning with a hard frost, I waited until noon for departure at 54f and warming. I found another zipper on my new jacket: there is an inner main zipper that backs up the main zipper. I had thought it was for the lining, but hey the lining is already in! So I had an extra degree of warmth/wind resistance that I wasn’t expecting, and sure, it made a difference! 62f at lunchtime and 66f returning home. Lots of sunshine today as well, and better expected for tomorrow and better again Sunday, but sorry, no motorcycling planned.
Many of the horses along 7 mile were blanketed, and at the Whitmore Lake marina only a handful of boats remained in the water. Lunch at McD’s in Stockbridge, I met a chatty 4 yr old with a budding interest in motorcycles. The simulated rescue cars were gone from the Chelsea FD. I snagged the two colorful photos in Dexter, but didn’t stop at the cider mill, dang there’s no sugar free cider and donuts.
I don’t know if there will be a #23 or more but it has already been a good year, and a good day. I had envisioned a much shorter and colder ride today, but the weather cooperated and I went on my way with a wide grin all the way.

Congratulations guys, well done, a couple more in the "22 club", and lots of beautiful pics! I'm glad I did that ride on Thursday, as predicted it's pissing down rain today here, and will be like this for up to a week or so, looking at my weather thingie on my iPhone. I'm about to jump into my little 300BHP twin turbo Subaru beastie and drive over to the home brew shop to pick up some supplies so I can brew some ginger beer. Not as enjoyable as a 100+ mile ride with the sun on my back, but it'll fill my day. Enjoy your rides! ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

"Crazy is a very misunderstood term, it's a fine line that some of us can lean over and still keep our balance" (thanks RB550Four)

Way to go Kevin and its been fun riding along with your pictures etc.. Your bike has been very reliable and good this year which shows your pride of ownership well. I went for a ride late this afternoon/early evening and stopped at my son's house coming home and we finally made a date for Saturday for a nice long ride together. Haven't hooked up with him as much as I was hoping to this summer so will be fun. He will be riding his 919 Hornet which I believe your son has also ?? Pictures later if I remember my camera ! Don't own a 'smart' phone so I am dumb.  :D

Autumn is not that bad. It is the grand finale of the riding season with fire sparkling trees.
Only the wet leaves on roads to look out for.
Plus more deers running around close the roads and crossing them.

Good looking and very intersting photos Budman and Kevin.
The giant burger would have been nice to see.
There are lots of different burger joints in USA that look very tasty. I have seen photos only except a few visits.

The old typical US burger restaurant style from the 50's is something extra. Visit once in South Carolina between Greenville and Spartanburg near highway 85 with exit to Greer, think it was mile 61.
21 years ago. Unfortunately no photos.

Well, thanks guys, I have mentioned it before, but let me say again I have the best retirement job that exists, custom designed: ride my vintage motorcycle on my favorite roads, explore places I have never been, sample local cuisine, photograph, report, repeat as often as possible.
Even though I’m riding alone most of the time, in a perfect world I would like to follow along your rides, and know that you would also be welcome here. But in the meantime 22 rides in 2022 will do very well.

It’s been a struggle with the weather here lately and I came across this travel ad this morning:

#11 - 157 miles.  Just going places - like USMC museum in Quantico. Iron Mike was the first picture I submitted to photo scavenger hunt on this forum.   That picture was with Dorothy - 10 or 11 years ago.

Also stopped by the DMV where I passed my M in USA.  And yes, I tried the slalom today and i failed thank you very much :)

It was hot in lowland so I pushed to mountains.

Memorable moment is from BP gas station in Madison.  I heard a bang on the other side of my pump stand.  I checked it out and the gas hose was torn out from the joint laying on the ground. Somebody had a bad day.

Ride #22, 111 miles.

Motorcycles everywhere!

Around 11:00am I met up with the group who were camping in Luckenbach for the Harvest Classic Rally, plus another SOHC/4 forum member that rode up this morning at a Shell station outside of Luckenbach.  We had several more folks also join us today.  I had to take a pic of the fancy gas pumps at this station with large touch screens.  These are the only pumps I've seen like that.  Just wondering if folks in other parts of the country/world are using pumps like this or if this is some kind of test station.  Anyway, there was this funky rat/racing BMW at the gas station that we all gravitated to.  I'm guessing it's a 1955 model by the number.  After we gawked at the BMW and wondered what the story was with the fairing, we took off for Enchanted Rock...our Texas version of Uluru (I guess).  It's a large granite dome that's a very popular tourist destination.  I only live a few miles from there, and though I've driven and ridden past it countless times I have never been there for a visit.  If you zoom in on the photo you can see people walking around on top of it.  When my son comes for a visit over the Thanksgiving holiday we'll probably give it a shot.

The next stop was the Pecan Grove Store for lunch.  It an old timey gas station that is now a burger joint, campground, music venue and a popular motorcyclist stop.  The owner has a nice collection of bikes that he displays there.  He fired up one of the Buell racing bikes for us while we were there.  As we were waiting for our food the polka band they had scheduled today began cranking out the tunes, and yes, they played "Roll Out the Barrell".  I had the Chili Cheeseburger.  It wasn't as big as the burger I had yesterday, but it was tasty.

After lunch it was time to head back to Luckenbach for the bike show at the rally.  They didn't have as many participants this year as I've seen in the past, but still some nice bikes.  I think the highlight for me was the Spirit of Munro Indian Scout that was built for Lee Munro, great-nephew of Burt Munro.  When my little Scout grows up it wants to be just like this bike.  Lots of cool Vincents on display too.  I love Black Shadows.  Saw a guy riding one around town yesterday.  One of my all-time favorite bikes.

I got myself a t-shirt, said my goodbyes I headed for home.  It was a good day, in spite of the wind.  I had to tuck-in for a few miles because I was getting blown around so much.  Anyway...good day, good weekend, good folks.  I think Frank would have gotten a kick out of the Rally.

I don't think I'll be able to catch Terry, but I'm not stopping at 22.

Very interesting rides with good photos guys!
A side car must be perfect for longer lasting rides with more luggage.

Strange looking BMW.
The burger look really juicy.
The wrapping reminds me about Rally's Big Buford I ate last time in USA. A small burger restaurant but tastier burger than the bigger burger chains we also have here.
(I did not see their triple back then 2017 :( )

https://www.rallys.com/menu/burgers/triple-smoky-bbq-bacon-buford/

It would be nice to ride around and visit some of the restaurants shown in the tv show Diners, drive-ins and dives.
They have shown lots of tasty looking stuff. Monster burgers included, chillies too. ;D

Weather here is getting colder so rides to be seen here for 5-6 months.

Congratulations on 22 budman, keep it going. That’s a whopping big motorcycle party there in Texas. Heck I have never even heard a Vincent running, the ones I have seen were rolled in and out, and there you have several that were ridden in. No fancy gas pumps here that I know of, maybe in the high rent district, and certainly no VPower here for $4.39. I have done a test ride on a Scout and it was a very nice ride, comfortable and easy to handle. I can’t quite make out if the windshield is off or on, hoping you get it worked out.

Ride 23 a shorter one, 86km.
A final adjustment ride for eventual dyno this week to verify the rich cruising 100-120kmh at last good dyno is sorted.
Stopped at the river where it look much boring than it looked like last summer and spring.

Next the crossing where I have ridden many times before, straight ahead to Väterfärnebo or turn right to Norrsalbo.

I look forward to next year's rides I intend to ride on new roads to other villages.

Thanks, fellas.  I love CB750’s as much as the next guy, but we see so many pics of them on this forum that I purposely tried to not photograph any…and there were some nice ones, so it wasn’t easy.

So many different kinds of bikes were at the rally and riding around in the hills this weekend.  Bikes you just don’t see everyday.  I wish I would have gotten some pics of the bikes in the parking lot and in the camping areas.

That gas price a was a tad high.  That station is on the main highway coming into town.  You can find cheaper if you know where to go.

I removed the windshield.  It’s not performing yet where I need it to be so I removed it.  I didn’t want to be distracted by it while enjoying the rides, the scenery and all the other bikes.

I’m re-thinking things a little bit.  I might try another idea.

I reckon you should make a screen out of fly wire Bud, so you can dissect the bugs at warp speed! I love your pics, that poor old R50 or R60 that someone’s “bobbed” made me cringe, only because I had one and actually liked it.

I had an uncle (that I didn’t know I was related to until much later) who had a couple of Vincents and I remember riding on the back of his lightly customised Black Shadow and looking around him at the huge Smiths speedo and seeing the magic ton on a bike for my first time at the age of 12 or 13, and wanting to be just like him. No helmet, no protective clothing and not a care in the world. Such is the tragedy of dysfunctional families that I only found out that we were related long after he’d passed.

That burger looks magnificent, it’d be wasted on me as I could only nibble about 25% of it, but it’d still be worth whatever it cost. ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

I’m not hip on old BMW’s, but a few things clicked when you mentioned R50, Terry.  A couple of us were trying to figure out what the rear shock mounts were.  I don’t know why they didn’t cut them off.  You could see where someone welded plate onto the rear of the frame and made it a hard tail.

I’m don’t know what the fairing is from.  It looks like the bow of a small boat that’s been cut up.  It has “El Faro” painted on it, which was the name of a cargo ship that sank in a hurricane in 2015.  It means “the lighthouse” in Spanish.

The dude riding it was as old and crusty as the bike, maybe older.

The prices for fancy hamburgers has gone way up.  $18 for just the burger and an iced tea.

#11 - 157 miles.  Just going places - like USMC museum in Quantico. Iron Mike was the first picture I submitted to photo scavenger hunt on this forum.   That picture was with Dorothy - 10 or 11 years ago.

Prokop, I have not been to Quantico, but I have been to the Iwo Jima memorial and it is magnificent. Also been to Luray and the Shenandoah, very nice. Many years ago on the CB I rode BRP and Skyline Drive into DC. Many of my ancestors are from Virginia back into the 1600’s, so your posts sound like home.

Budman, think I’m paying $0.80 or 90 more than you on the hope/expectation that there is no ethanol in the VPower, but like your pump, there is nothing to indicate as such. On my recent travel to Canada, much of the premium fuel was marked No Ethanol. I have never done the graduated cylinder test, or found anybody at the Shell station who could tell me about the gas.

PeWe, there is a tasty gyro (silent g) at the corner restaurant. Many Greek and Mideast immigrants work in restaurants nearby but not out in the countryside when I’m on the CB. My stop at McD’s is mostly due to convenience.

Terry, we have pasties, maybe like your meat pie, and they are very popular in the UP. Supposedly a hearty miners meal amongst the copper miners.
I never went $100 until i got my own CB 750. There was a place between home and work where the road was wide, the pavement was smooth, a tall fence on both sides of the road for the better part of a mile with a golf course on one side and park/flood plain on the other, and very light traffic.

Thanks guys, we don't have Gyros here, even though Melbourne has the second largest Greek population outside of Athens, or at least, we did when I went to school. He have Souvlakis, and Kebabs (lots of middle eastern folks live here too) and there are a few crossovers, but usually sold by Chinese or Vietnamese folks who've taken over old greek fish and chip shops, the Asian folks here love "Cash" businesses like bakeries and non-franchised fast food joints, and are usually better business people than they are cooks. I haven't had a burger in ages, but that one of Bud's looked nice.

We should start a "How old were you when you first did the Ton" thread. Like Kevin, I think the first time I was on the front of a bike at that speed was on my shiny new CB750F (I wanted a Z1 but couldn't swing a loan at 18) and I was booked "At speeds in excess of 180 KPH" (112 MPH) in 1978. I could have sworn my speedo was reading 215 KPH but I was happy to defer to the policeman's expertise, (I found out much later that the Australian police speedo's only went up to 180 KPH back then) and was lucky enough that he was a Vietnam vet and when he found out that I was a young soldier on leave he reduced it down from "You're going straight to jail son", to "You're gonna get a fine, mate".

I must have learned my lesson, because I've never had a speeding ticket on a motorcycle since. (talk about lucky.....) ;D

Gyros, typical as found in Greece.
Last time I ate was on Santorini  Kamari Beach 2016.
Really loaded one for only €2.50.

Burger price $18US like here for something like this.
What about $0.99US burgers?

I visited that reastaurant chain in my town last week and ate that burger meal.
Bowling first, food later. 2x2 drinks included (beer, wine, cider) during the entire event.
I did not pay, my job did ;D

A juicy fat burger should cost max $10USD ;D

I was impressed the most by the Korean War memorial first time I saw it.  It was like 10PM and the soldiers were all lit and it was my first visit to DC in 1997.

We live near Vint hill base, used to be an installation where they listened to radio traffic from embassies in DC - during cold war - it closed 1992.  Quantico is 40 miles and I go there twice a year to update my work ID.  Skyline drive is about 50 miles to the west taking my favored 211.  I always end up somewhere in the mountains when I go for a ride.  :D

I really miss the photo scavenger hunt, it was a lot of fun.
