Not my back yard. That's the little restaurant in Fleur de Lys we ride to. Wish it was my backyard!

Ride #83 today was 147 km. to LaScie for a chicken dinner. Beautiful fishing town, the scallops we buy there are huge! Tomorrow’s ride will be to Kings Point, another great spot for seafood!

Ride #22    90 miles    Home - Chelsea - Home

A lunch run out to Mikes Deli in Chelsea.
Westbound on Seven Mile, Strawberry Lake, Dexter-Chelsea to Mikes.
Eastbound on Dexter-Chelsea, Huron River Drive, Pontiac Trail, North Territorial.
Mikes has 20+ sandwiches on the menu, I have sampled two.
Today’s choice was #3 Sydney’s sub, ham, salami, pepperoni, provolone, yum.
Later on I stopped at the glassed out big bend on the Huron River for photos.

Lash, Newfoundland looks very nice. I have never been in Canada beyond Ontario save for a couple nights at Waterton/Glacier. Keep the photos coming!…..and keep an eye on Ernesto.

220 km for #84 today to Kings Point, NL. Seafood chowder right on the water, beautiful day! Tomorrow we are going back to Fleur de Lys and maybe Tuesday will be the start of our trip around the north coast.

A good chowder is so tasty! Corn chowder is really good too.  Not a low calorie food, but you aren't making it your regular diet. A good meal that as they say, sticks to your ribs, so you aren't hungry and hour or two later.

I enjoy good seafood, haven't had any in a while...
Been wanting to go spend some time on the beach in California to see if it could do a reset on a mental funk I have been fighting...  Maybe I will renew my passport and go find a good beach in Mexico instead, would be far cheaper.  California changed laws such that you cannot even take a nap in your car now without risking getting a ticket from police. Even if you pull off road and find a place out of the way because you are sleepy and are a hazard driving. Stupidity is deep there...

Yes, it’s been favorable weather here for a stretch, but turning today, I think no #23 for a few days. I have to watch my lunch rides or I will have to crank the preload up a notch.

Bud, here is something for you. I found the nicest photo of your Scout that I could and also your badges.
If it was me I would take it to the printer and make an enlargement for the wall in the shop. I don’t know if these 150kb photos will take too much enlargement. I hope you like it.

Turkey soup in Fleur de Lys today. Only 90 km for #85. Had a contractor over to look at doing some work on the house so couldn’t go any farther.

Oh, cool!  Thanks, Kevin!  Just seeing this.  Trying to decide if it's going to be hot tomorrow to ride.  This thread is a great motivator.  I've got some work to do, so I may have to sit out this weekend.

;2nd to the last event at Speedway was Wed, so I had to go, and that netted # 32. Just a quick out to the track and back for 76 miles. It is still hot, like 100° f when I left at 5:45, but cooled off nice. I got to try out my mesh jacket, but the jury is still out on that, I'm not real excited about black.

Anyhoo I had a good sammich there, you will have to take my word for that because the picture seems to be missing something. The races were great, again. I really like that they do the national anthem before the races with all the riders and crews in the infield, it's a classy way to start the night. I didn't do alot of pics because it is hard to do justice because the bikes are so fast. Another week and a half and they are having (I think) the state finals, then it's done until next year, unless I go to Aburn for the Nationals. It's only about 500 miles away, so maybe.

Oh well, here is a few pics.

Ride #33, but it wasn't  a happy one. I went out for about a 60 mile ride to shake off the pissed off after the wife's handy work on my truck. We have friends visiting from out of state so she lent her car to them for 2 weeks. This puts me on the bike for my main transportation and her in my truck, what could go wrong????? About 4 days into this arrangement and she rubs the right side against the neighbors fence post, the fence is ok, but......... both doors, the step bar, part of the bed AND sliced the rear tire.

This was on Thursday so me still being less than happy about it needed some wind therapy.  We'll happy to say that straightened out my attitude, my truck is still f'd up, but I'm not likely to go off on her with a verbal tirade now. So I guess it was a good ride up Ortega Hwy after all.

Jim, I am guessing that wasn't a rub done at low speed for her to scrape/dent that much of the truck...
Sorry about the truck...

She was pulling out of the driveway from a dead stop. I didn't hear a burn out, but she did say she heard scraping as she pulled out. Kinda funny, in a perverted sort of way.

I had my sunroof on my Mini Cooper open yesterday and it was completely open while parked for an appointment yesterday morning. I put it in vent mode after pulling away leaving and while traveling down an access road adjacent to the freeway between exits I reached up and toggled the switch to close it and ai was traveling about 45 mph. The roof made the most awful sound and it literally Sounded like it jammed and then shattered a panel as it continues the close cycle rather than hitting a fault trigger and reopening. The noise was scary.  I don't have a garage at the place I rent and thought , great, this is going to be expensive and a royal pita to get fixed...
I rolled down my window to be able to reach up and feel if the roof had any gaps or dangling pieces above the seam at the rear. There wasn't anywhere to safely stop and if damaged nothing I could do about it.  I just touched things, no rubbing, etc. The rain storm and then blowing dust and sand left the surface less than clean to the touch...I feared the worst.
Once I stopped a couple miles later I got out expecting carnage and was surprised it didn't look abnormal and nothing broken in the glass panoramic roof panels or the little bit of plastic and felt and rubber seals. I am afraid now to open it for fear it will have an issue that cannot be addressed without a dealer service.
Externally it looks fine but something definitely was not right when it closed previously.
I hate car problems...

That sucks David.

A little while ago I cot a call that the lent out car had a flat from a nail, it is about 30 miles from here. Then I remembered that I had free flat fixes from America's Tire, woo hoo. But the tire was past the wear limit to be fixed and they refused to fix it. So I told them to put the spare on and I will deal with the flat...........no can do, the spare is over 10 years old.  So I  ought 4 new Fricken tires o er the phone for a tad over $800! Yup I hate car trouble too, maybe I should go hang out in the pisses off thread for a while.

A friend has a car hauler trailer he bought second (third/fourth) hand from someone late last year, he lives a couple hours away. He has been running in a spare wheel for about 4 months because one of his trailer tires developed a puncture from a nail and because the tires are too old no one would repair the puncture. He found a guy who was selling used trailer tires with 2022 date codes as he was updating the load capacity of his trailer and replaced his tires. Randy spent $200 for a set of trailer tires instead of $400+ for the used 10 ply trailer tires.

Sorry to read of the tire misfortune Jim, another thing that has increased greatly in price since the start of the pandemic...

Front for my VStrom in Dunlop Mission tire went from around $150 on sale to $200...
Fortunately the Mission tires have long wear life and do not require replacement very often with 25-30k miles possible out of a front...

It has been smoky around here for the last month, not conducive to scenic photos so I haven't bothered.  But the smoke cleared out Friday, still hazy, but much improved.  So I went out for what I'll call #11.
