Went out last weekend and got about 900 miles in on Alley Cat.

Frank would have been proud of you. 8)
🍻🍻🍻 Frank!

Ride #5 left the house to go to galiapolis about 45 miles. Then took the long was home about 58 miles.
Nice dinner with the Ole lady. Weather was supposed to hold off longer than it did. We fought heavy winds and light rain last 8 or so miles home. We got inside and played down together for no more than. 5 minute and the sky opened up. Rain was coming down loud enough would like someone opened up a air hose beside my bedroom window

#9 tonight. Took the Varadero down to Rice Lake and met a few buddies for “wing night”. Nice time but got absolutely drenched on the way back. Our road was muck by the time i got back. Hosed off the bike, but it’s hard to tell I detailed it yesterday….. I give up.

We use 5/8" crushed with fine. It packs really well and if you use a plate compactor or a vibrating roller it lasts a long time.

284 km. for #51 today. Rode north to Owen Sound and up Grey road #1 by the water to Wiarton. Beautiful ride. Stopped at a Harley dealer to look around, wow are they expensive!

Lash, did you know Bill the Demon? I believe he was the oldest member here at SOHC4 before he passed several years ago. The only reason I ask is because Bill lived in Wiarton.

Bill has been gone for 6 years.
He loved the RCAF and the Lancasters that he worked on.
He always took the time to share his wizened wisdom.
I don’t know too much about his motorcycles.
There was a 305 SuperHawk.
He was a test rider for a repair shop.

#35, 148 miles, 6-21-2025.
Rode the OH Turnpike to Maumee, OH. Got off and followed the Maumee River West.
The bridge is referred to as "The Damascus Bridge", Damascus the place is just a footnote in history IMHO.
saw one thing weird enough to stop, rode back the gravel drive and found a cattle gate which had two large posts like the outer ones in the picture. No active driveway to the large steel building.
Sherwood, OH was the Westmost part of the ride.

Rode to Campbellville this morning before it got too hot and sticky. Over 30c now and the humidity makes it almost 40c. Home in the garage now and going no where. 183km. for #52.

#11 Today. Breakfast in Minden and +300 kilometres today in ridiculous heat and humidity. 11 motorcycles and one side car rig. My son was the youngest on the oldest bike (my 1973 cb750K). Both our Hondas never missed a beat. The sprockets on the K3 are truly done and I need to replace them next. Fantastic weekend!

Well done John, on your weekend with your son riding and surviving the heat. The heat is coming my way next......supposed to be 100+ the heat index from the humidity the next 2 days....

I rode this evening for a ice cream ride and the scenic way back , 54 miles for ride #9. 84°F hot to start at 5:00, 75°F getting home at dusk 9pm.
We had a group of friends from church and I brought along one of the girls with me on the wing, everyone else was in cages.
While there at the ice cream stop, a blue 71 Vette pulled in so I wandered over to say howdy. Ends up his brother has a 750 that needs some lovin, so I may have it in to work on it??? And a friend of his has an automatic needing the carbs rebuilt.

Stu…. When I ride with my son, I insist on ALL the gear…. It was hot. Be careful init. Easy to overdo it!

You should invest in a Phase Change Vest to cool your core for days like this. I have one as I was riding back from San Diego in the desert 🥵 heat and the summer humidity heat east of the southwest. Best investment for both environments. The cooling packs get chilled to 60-65° F in 20 minutes soaking in ice and water mix and last @ 1- 1.5 hrs at 105°F so life is bearable, then resoak again. I don't do well above 90°F. With the vest I can manage through it. I wear it under my leather jacket to keep the cold in and not melting from hot wind blowing on it like you would do with the soaking evaporative cooling vests(ok for dry desert heat but still limited cooling above 90°).
Phase Change Vests were designed for reentry heat cooling for the astronauts.

It comes with a cooler bag to put ice and water in when you need to charge the cooling packs.

#36, 6-23-2025, 200 miles even.

Rode to Sherwood, OH. followed Maumee river route to New Haven, IN, not a lot to see from the road, wandered around some more and ended up back home :-). Nothing photogenic :-).

Trying to figure out how to out how to force Garmin Zumo XT to log a days ride and save it so I can view it later and so far failing miserably :-).
EDIT: HA, bent the electrons to my will :-). GPS says 197.72 miles, I derived my 200 I stated from trip odo.

Tried to go out for a ride this morning about 9:45 before it got too hot, I was mistaken.

Got about 20 miles in before I had to turn around and come home.  It was 90 when I left and 98 when I got back at 10:20, the day is just beginning, ugh.

I'm going to have to wait out this heat for a week or so.
