Front Fork Damper Tubes with flash rust removed  :)  I was never very good with physics but curious the purpose of the holes at the bottom end of the damper. Only one set of 4 holes on each damper. Damper tubes are actually upside down with the larger end bolted in at the bottom of the lower fork.  I am quessing that when the fork is compressed it helps equalize the internal pressure of the fork oil and makes the forks more gentle?  Does it matter if the holes are facing forward or backward in the lower fork??

No…. Just drop them in.

In your photo it’s hard to tell which headlight/ fork ears are original and Yamiya, nice “spares”!

The holes in damper rods are to meter the fork oil as the fork compresses.  Orientation is unimportant as the lower fork tube forms the chamber for the oil to "escape".

^ ^ ^ Beautiful K1 ^ ^ ^

Photo wants you to strap on the helmet, put on the jacket, enjoy the bright blue sky,  and ride.  I am hoping that 2026 will be the year I get to ride the fire breathing dragons (CB750 and CB550) :)

I can even smell the freshly mowed grass  ;)

That pic was after a long ride on a very fine day. Today there is over a foot of snow out there! Happy New Year.

I did not realize that the earlier K1 fork ears use a smaller side reflector. 40mm vs 55mm. The larger reflectors will not work as the bolt is also larger at 6mm vs 5mm with the smaller reflectors and K1 fork ears.  No worries - I ordered a set of used reflectors from a 1971 CB450 (exactly the same as the K1) for $15.

Kyle….. if those aren’t the correct stud size, I’m sure I have a pair that I could donate (for postage)!

Thanks Mate.  Very much appreciate your offer.  The correct smaller reflectors with smaller 5mm stud have already been ordered and shipped. Unfortunately I just consolidated a large shipment of parts from the USA so the reflectors will have to wait until the next shipment.  I average about 1 shipment every 2 months. I really enjoy buying used Honda parts from the bike dismantlers on Ebay.   They provide a very important service to bike restorers and I am very grateful for the availability.   Quality, condition, and price varies tremendously.

Earlier smaller K0/K1 side reflectors on the super rare prototype scheduled to be auctioned off at Mecum later this month. Smaller size side reflectors look so good :) I wonder what price the bike will bring this time around?

Late Edit: Photos are from the earlier first time auction.   I would not trust my center stand on a sandy beach  ;)  Is the tank trim correct for this bike??

Interesting. I’m sure those are correct for that bike. But quickly changed (as did a lot of things) over the first year. Every S/C I’ve seen had the plain trim.

After a long time waiting for a Candy Gold set and then all of a sudden they seem to be coming out of the woodwork.  Here is another set just posted on Yahoo Japan.  Tank looks like a repainted original but fork ears and side covers look like reproductions. A quick note that the tank and side cover emblems look original (and not cheap aftermarket).  Hard to tell the quality of the paint from photographs but this set looks to be a good value.

Nice body set. Always fascinates me that someone would do such lovely paint work and then appear to never even have washed the underside of the tank!

. . . not a very good sign of the quality of the prep and paint work

Please excuse the off-topic inquiry however I wanted to ask forum members about this bike

This Honda Dream 50 AC15  popped up For Sale on my local facebook page. Bike was made in 1997 to celebrate Honda's 50th anniversary and commemorate the successful 1962 Honda RC110 single cylinder racer. Bike was only made for 1 year and sold in Japan only.    Bike looks totally mad - a 50cc bike revving to 13,000.  I can see that the exhaust and shocks are not original and it is missing the gas cap.

Why did the owner add a steering damper - it's only 50cc - how fast can it possibly go?

Screaming little 50cc DOHC. Wish they sent some over here.

Last I checked, Vic World owned the prototype CB750 (unless that changed too) I wonder why he's selling it. I'm pretty sure it's a one of one at this point. At one point he had a candy blue green Pre-production CB750 which I think he sold some time ago for eye watering money.

Just read the Mecum page, they seem to have it right that it's a unicorn. I sure hope it goes to a good home, pretty cool machine, and beautiful.

When the Thai girls saw the Honda Dream 50 AC15 photos they laughed

"It's like a Gorilla riding a Mickey Mouse bike"

They're right of course  ;)

Delivery today :) New shipment arriving from the USA.  Lots of vintage and new Honda parts.  Items needed to complete the body set install that will be in this shipment:

1.  Upper and lower NOS rubber bushings for the front fork ears
2.  Upper chrome trim rings for front forks rubber boots/gaiters
3.  Chrome over brass construction reproduction gas cap latch
4.  NOS side cover emblems
5.  Early Original K1 gas tank embems and clips

I'll be waiting at the front gate

Late Edit:  Front fork tubes had a few deep scratches/nicks with sharp raised outer edges.  Scratches were sanded down and filled with 2 part JB Weld epoxy.  Tubes were then completely sanded with 800, 1000, 1200 and final metal polish.  Tubes are now super smooth and should move easily along with the new front fork seals. The chrome Honda used on these tubes is truly remarkable.
