I'm backing down from my earlier position on this. I apologise to tintin. The donor bike is a basket case and tintins plans look to be well thought out. Good luck, and keep the pics comming.

That'd be right, you apologise to Tinny for royally stepping on your dick and accusing him of butchery, but you can't find it in your heart to tell me you're sorry for calling me some kind of poxy moron? No wonder nobody likes Kiwis................  >:( ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

No apologies necessary - I've voiced my strong opinions on many a matter myself here from time to time, and appreciate people's input, regardless of whether it aligns with my position or not.

I've seen some abominations out there, and don't want to be part of that crowd.

Hey, who you calling an abomination?!?!?   ;)

Seriously though, you have some interesting things coming together here.  I can't wait to see it completed.  I like that tank strap a lot!

Jeeezz Tell, I'm really sorry mate, and you're right, our Prime Minister, Helen Clark, was born a man. Oh, and I do like to rape sheep. And I smell. And NZ is a dump. And your K0 is nicer than mine............. And I'm gay.  :'(

Hey hey hey, c'mon mate, you don't have to go nuts with that apology, just a simple "sorry" would have done, sheesh!  ??? ;D

You're not talking about Sanglas' are you Tinny? I believe Spain started making them when their government banned the import of CB350's for use as  boat anchors? ;D

Raul, my friend, when you are dealing with a bloody Aust-rail-ian you have to be very careful. They are as cunning as a proverbial sh*t-house rat. I am sorry but you have just shot yourself in the foot.

I rest my case, you are a moron, an "Aussie-bloody-oxymoron"...... ;D

Geez you're right Raul, I've done a lot of research, and it took forever, but I've even found some pics of an early Sanglas, I think!  ;D

Early Sanglas? Man, that's one of the latest Sanglas, the top of the spanish engineering!!!  ;D

I guess if those two would have been spaniards, the movie would have been named "Dumber and dumbest"

Just out of curiosity, no intention to start a fight with you Terry because you run circles around me when it comes to be witty and funny at the same time. Was there ever an australian motorcycle manufacturer? I mean medium to big scale, I guess there is no country in the World that didn't have its own motorcycle mavericks, but I mean an australian bike manufacturer that lasted enough and sold enough.

Haven't you ever heard of 'Mad Max Motors'?   ;)

You probably had heard about Burt Munro before, but I just knew the other day that the speed record on water is held by another australian -still alive- who built his own vehicle with a turbine.

Nah, don't be sorry Raul, New Zealand is pretty much just a suburb of Oz anyway, and we've been propping up NZ's "third world" economy for many years in the form of welfare payments to about half of NZ's population who have moved over here to seek a better life. We love our Kiwi's like Americans love their Mexicans...........  ;D

Now back to your question, yeah, we've had a few goes at developing our own motorcycle industry, but due to our relatively small population and the fact that we're so far away from the rest of the world, (apart from bloody New Zealand, of course.........) we haven't had much luck, except with some "specials" with small production numbers, quite out of my price range, sadly.

Mike Rieck's mate has an Aussie bike, a V8 Drysdale, which is pretty cool, but made in relatively low numbers. Listen to what it sounds like, it sounds like no V8 I've ever driven, ha ha!  http://www.werple.net.au/~iwd/

And then there's the mighty Barbarian, a 350 Chev powered beastie that uses a much smarter drive train than most other V8 bikes around, keeping the length of the thing quite short, and quite a reasonable handler for something so heavy.

Now the designer/builder is a South African guy who emigrated to Oz a few years ago, and the drive train is American, but just like Harley is at least "technically" an American built bike, the Barbarian is as Aussie as getting drunk and making a dick of yourself, ha ha!: http://www.bikenut.com.au/barbarian.php

I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

Wow, that Drysdale seem to be a nice piece of bike! The "Barbarian" reminds me of the Boss Hoss. I have never been fond of the Boss Hoss, but I saw a documentary the other day and saw a guy cruising on one of them, then opened the throttle wide while pressing the clutch, and then releasing the clutch so the bike went from cruising to burnout!!! I found another youtube video, check it out (about 1 minute long)

Ha ha, yep, they're beastly alright, but looking at the size of some of the spectators, they need all that V8 power just to carry their huge asses along, for a minute I thought that was an episode of "Biggest Loser", ha ha! ;D

No wonder the bloody Aussies as so attached to them....!!!
