So why do you call yourself HITMAN? :D I don't know was the reality of the situation is here in the States, but I have heard stories about people getting busted and losing everything because marijuana was found on their property.  I've dealt with enough drunks and potheads to know which I would rather keep company with, and I've known alcohol to destroy families.  Damn marijuana laws.

I would do the neighborly thing and talk to the suspected neighbors. See if you can work something out as it seems you don't want them there and you are in a community- therefore- a compromise must be reached.

I would either do that or forget about it. It's a small battle to pick and with a beautiful classic bike that all your neighbors- suspected included- know you own you don't want to have them start getting picky about your bike ;)

If the police wouldnt do much even if they did find it, then why are you even worried about it?

Take a glance in the center of the plant. The little growths sprouting upward? Theres your budding area. Female plants flower to form into the sticky buds to smoke, while males are virtually useless except to grow more seeds. Depending on where they are in the growth cycle, males will grow there own little 'testicle' pods branching out from the stem. Pic included. If you find one male, they will most likely all become male. Those plants you have look unkept but still good. Somebody might be keeping an eye on them, but dought they are really tending to them. They will grow much larger still if they arent being pruned and shaped, but once they begin to fill with buds you will find out which person they came from. They will be coming down to snip a little to smoke.-----Or so I hear.    ::)

Raul,
Just walk on. The whole Mary Jane thing is an overblown waste of time. Apart from the laugh and the curiosity there is no use chasing this. You're clean and for all the time you would waste reporting it, you'd be better off going for a nice ride on the bike.
Time is short!

It should be obvious (this is the medic talking...) that these guys are self-medicating for contact dermatitis: http://www.jpost.com/servlet/Satellite?cid=1187502417083&pagename=JPost%2FJPArticle%2FShowFull .

They probably have it all approved as part of the international study, and the Spanish Health Ministry probably signed off on it.

perhaps you could buy a small ready mixed weedkiller spray, walk past spraying a few times, in a week or so the plant would die, you would have done your duty to the community and if anyone was using it they would not link you to the demise of the plant.

I see no dilemma, Contact the person you think planted it, (pretty obvious who did it and very funny by the way!) and tell them to either put it in a pot take it inside the house. or you will take care of it.  Simple.

And by take care of it I mean take it inside our house(if a female) and start it on a cycle.  Then with the fruit grown, sell it back to your neighbor.  It's a win, win situation.  You'll have extra income for your interests, bike parts etc. Yes/no?

So, I take by Ingrid and Heffay's comment that they recognize the plant in the picture as marijuana. How can I tell wether it is male or female?

If they stink, they're female!  :D  (this is true for the plants only of course, not for human beeings)

If the garden is open to anybody, and kids/teenagers hang out there I would take them out.

Where I live you can grow up to 5 plants in a PRIVATE garden (or inside) if they don't bother anyone. It's not legal, but the cops allow you to grow a small amount for your own consumption.
Strangely enough, growing weed is illegal in Holland, but selling it isn't ???

I bet if you tell the guys that are the prime suspects, they'd get rid of them for you.

I remember we had some growing in my back yard when I was a kid because my uncle would throw his seeds and stems back there.  It could be accidental.

I can just see you out there pulling them up when the cops walk up called by another neighbor.  "Uhh, I was just getting rid of these."

Just think, if it was legal to have your own plants/stash,
you could empty prisons of at least 30% of the inmates
in the US.

A few years back I was the paramedic at a small town fire dept.  The sheriff's deputies had confiscated a few garbage bags full of pot, and had to destroy it.  The fire dept was detailed with BURNING it.  The chief and I (it was a very small dept) were the only two on duty.  So we burned it.  I think we were standing downwind.  I reeked when I got home.  Good thing we didn't have any other calls for a while.

Only in small town America... :D

I love the smell of paraquat in  the morning!

TwoTired,

I had to look up the word, because I didn't know its meaning. Now I know it is a commonly used, non-selective herbicide.

I thought the following excerpt was intersting, and made me think, "Would Raul get in more trouble for illegal possession of agricultural chemicals, or for association with illegal agriculture?"  Killing them would be a crime, too! ;) :D
Quote, COURT OF FIRST INSTANCE OF THE EUROPEAN COMMUNITIES, PRESS RELEASE No° 45/07
"Paraquat was first produced for commercial purposes in 1961 by ICI (now Syngenta)
and is today among the most commonly used herbicides.
The European Union allowed Paraquat in 2004. Sweden, supported by Denmark, Austria, and Finland, brought the European Union commission to court. [But,] On 11 July 2007 the court annulled the directive authorising Paraquat as an active plant protection substance. (sic) In the European Union paraquat is forbidden since July the 10th 2007."

Raul,
I would say, let them grow.  They are growing in the communal space of the garden.
It is probably one person's seeds in a different person's pot. If you want, talk to the guys who you think it is.
Maybe because it is in community space, it is community harvest! ;)

From Wikipedia

Paraquat Pot

During the late 1960s, a controversial program sponsored by the US government sprayed paraquat on marijuana fields in South America. Since much of this marijuana was subsequently smoked by Americans, the US government's "Paraquat Pot" program stirred much debate. Perhaps in an attempt to deter people from using marijuana, representatives of the program warned that spraying rendered the crop unsafe to smoke. However, independent bodies have studied paraquat in this use. Jenny Pronczuk de Garbino, [8] stated: "no lung or other injury in marijuana users has ever been attributed to Paraquat contamination".

On this topic, D.P. Morgan states in a United States Environmental Protection Agency publication that: "Smoking Paraquat-contaminated marijuana does not result in lung damage as the herbicide is pyrolyzed to dipyridyl (which does not present a toxic hazard) during smoking".

I won't say just why I was originally concerned about pot and paraquat.  I just imagined that if Army officers loved the smell napalm on the morning (Apocalypse Now), then police officers or other government officials may love the smell of paraquat in the morning.  And, Raul was considering bringing in the troops.  Of, course the entire garden would be defoliated in the process, too.  The government can possess and use any chemical in any way they deem fit.  And, protection of the local populace is optional and at local official discretion.

Anyway,
It's quite possible that if the growers of the plants, are under frequent influence,  the awareness and concern for other matters may become tertiary in importance.
