Very Different Topic,"Rat In My Building!"
« on: August 24, 2007, 08:17:33 AM »

Well, I've told you all about the 2 snakes in my building over the years. I've also had the occasional RAT in there! >:( I HATE RATS! >:(
When ever I realize that one is in there, I grab the "Just One Bite" rat poison and put it in there. After just a couple of days or so, there is a pretty good stench ::)  and then I get out there, find and remove the remains. Not a very pleasant job! ::) Once in a while, I've forgotten about it and not gone into the building for a little while and WHOA!!!! , open the door to let that SMELL hit you right between the eyes! (we don't have a "smiley" that represents that one! Gotta figure out how to keep them out of there. Any suggestions, other than my wife's "Burn It!" ::)

                                   Later on, Bill :) ;)

:D :D   Yep, you got rid of the predators, now the rats run free!!

What are the rats eating?  Remove the food source and you remove the rats.  Aside from that, you'd have to hermetically seal the place to keep them out.

Asi like to leave my garage door open a little when I am working out there at night, there have been many times rats and mice made their way in (I usually keep 2-40lb bags of dog food out there).  Out goes the Kill-em stuff, but intead of waiting for the stench, take a 5gal bucket with about 2gal of water in it and put a board up to the edge (like a ramp).  Seems the poison causes them to dehydrate or get thirsty, and most of the time I find them 'drowned' in the bucket since they cannot jump out.

Otherwise my usual answer is to throw the neighbors cat in and close the door.

I think you need a crossman pellet gun..... ;)

Least then your hunting expedition would be sporting.

A flashlight and you'd be all set......

Best way to hunt rats is a flash light and a coey single shot 22.  Just don't try it in a feed barn :o :o

Black snakes abound around here and live in rafters and trees- they eat rodents.  The problem with rat poison is if they eat it and then a cat or dog bites the rat, the pet can get REALLY sick or even die.
Rats eat anything and everything including the glue in book bindings...
Rat traps are the way to go.  They are deft and smart and will often eat the bait right off the trap UNLESS- put a thin strip of duct tape around the bait so the rat will have to "worry" it off the trigger.  WHAM
Dude- your 8 layers are showing!
