Very impressive Same! Is that what you used to pick up those Dutch chicks in Amsterdam  ;)....

Great looking bike Rob! Where are you in the Netherlands? My g/f is from the Hague and her sister is in Amsterdam. Are you in the Dutch SOHC club? Also check out Axl the Satanic Mechanics website - hes in Munich. Axl and Johnny from Belgium usually organise a western European ride (WER).

Cheers

Hey Andy, if Sam used that then I don't think he got 'lucky'. ;D ;D
I live about 45 miles north of Amsterdam in a village called Grootebroek. I know of Axl's and sometimes visit. Don't know about the WER. Am not a member of the Dutch SOHC club. But that's just because I'm not a 'club' man.

Hey guys, like to ask about the studs that support the 'camtowers'. Because I am thinking of building a engine with a hot (web-)cam, I would like to add the extra support. Has anyone, perhaps, a template or a drawing with measurements, for the holes in the camcover?

If not, I have to take the measurements. ??? ???
Thanks in advance.

Cheers, Rob

Hi Rob, I was lucky in that a mate of mine had one allready converted. On a sad note, it's now on the bike and impossible to measure.
I don't think it would be to difficult to triangulate the hole centres by using the covers own holding down screw holes.
Converted covers are available from M3 racing in the States, not sure if it's an exchange service.

Hey Sam,

Thanks for your reply. I will measure it and it will be alright. But I thought: "Why re-invent the wheel", if it's already there. Since your bike has all that torque, have you done anything special to the clutch? Besides the obvious like springs etc.

Cheers, Rob

It's just a stock clutch Rob, we've never had any issues with the clutch apart from a cable fraying.

Mike Rieck sent me a set of Barnett springs, we'll use them if we have to. ;)

No she dosent....but....your Japanese is pretty poor compared to your Dutch.....no verb in the sentence and the word for "can" that you used...is actually for can of soup, not "can play"  ;D

Nice try :-)

Not sure Rob, I think it might be Australian. Terry in Australia might be able to shed some light on it.

I can't access the pics via my defence department compuker, so I'll check it out tonight on my Dad's computer. Cheers, Terry. ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

Thanks Tell, I know that Adam Pop rode the Bike in the Heritage series but he normally rides for Mark Mcgrew and that don't look like one of his bikes. I wondered if it was one of that guy you know in Aus.

Well as much as I'd like to claim that magnificent beast as an Aussie build, I know that bike, it was built by a journalist for "Cycle World" magazine in around 2000 or 2001, and was known as "Big Benly".

I've still got the magazine at home in pride of place with some of my favorite CB750 literature. He built it for racing and it was entered in a lot of classic races in 2001/2002, and was even taken to Britain to race at Mallory Park, and the Isle of Mann too, I think.

Beautiful bike for sure, I took a few cues from the build photo's when I braced the frame on my (stalled) racer project. Cheers, Terry. ;D

Does the 'Big Benly' uses a, changed, original frame or one that looks like it? See some interesting features on the bike. What engine configuration, power output? Sorry for all the questions.

Sorry guys, my mistake, it wasn't "Cycle World" magazine, it was the December 1999 edition of "Motor Cyclist". I'll have to read the article again to discover why the builder, Patrick Bodden, named it "Big Benly",  but I believe it was some sort of "Homage" to the early Honda race bikes.

The frame is a modified CB750 item, and seriously stiff. Patrick used a lot of modded OEM items, that rear hub is a much modified front hub, for instance. Don't those "Works Performace" rear shocks look nice? Cheers, Terry. ;D
