Just a update on the replica: Mounting the big fairing, so I can sent her off to the painter, and changed the exhaust.

It is a bid quiet here, isn't it?

Perhaps you could explain the thinking behind that fairing; given that it's a bit unusual I wonder if there was some wind tunnel time spent?

Like the exhaust... close ups?

Thought behind the fairing was to give the drivers an easy time during their stints of more than 1 to 1,5 hour at the time during the 24 hour races. Don't forget thay had 2 drivers per team, so you spent a lot of time on the bike. 2nd was to prevent frontwheel lift on the long straights. In the old days the bikes were quite a bid backheavy with less weight on the front then nowadays.

Like how things are progressing. I know what fairings in general do; but I couldn't find anything in prior posts regarding the unusual shape of this one.

Mike, if you look back in this thread you will find the address of Bartell Eng in Ireland. Airtech do a glass tank in the US but the Ally ones are much better and are spot on replicas.

Thanks Sam .... I rolled back and read through all the posts, I also did a forum search on Bartell Eng and Bartell Engineering and cannot find anything more than a poist from you about oil pressure fittings. I also did not see an obvious site on a web search.

Could you give me contact info and a name for the company ??

This bike wears the first set of hand made Yoshimura pipes for a 750 Honda.

I got my Bartell tank and made some progress on my latest CR build this weekend. 850cc Cycle X Git Kit engine, GL1000 front end, lot's of goodies ... here are a couple pics ..
