Damn we have broke the 170 mark...and on a sad note i may be like tintin soon and no longer have a 550. The shop i had it in storage at has been giving me the run around and jacking up prices at the last second....one moment  its $200 for four months of storage all of a sudden its almost 2 grand!!! At this point this is where i consider the idea of hunting for another 500 or 550 thats already running.

This is my 1973 CB500-4 as I recieved it, actually took it off a friends hands, for free! The motor is almost back together but there is a lot of work yet to do

I'm currently rebuilding the motor (almost done, pistons should go in tonight) and once that's done I'll move on to the frame. I think I'll keep it stock other than the 4-1 pipes, I do love the looks of the cafe racers but I hate to cut up a classic like this. Just guessing that I won't be done until the summer of 2010, that seems so far away.

Well as of the beginning of this month i no longer own a CB550. I mentioned the shop problems before. Basically it got to the point i wound up saying "its your bike now you deal with it" to the shop owners. The main problem is this when the bike was purchased from the shop owner he did not say anything about storage fees when i stated i would need to leave it there for a couple months due to having no means of getting it home (truck blew engine the day after purchase of the bike). Basically it wound up with him jacking up the price every time i asked how much the true amount owed was. So from this point forward i will continue maintaining the 5/550 Registry but in the mean time i will continue to search for my Ideal 550...Not sure if i still count as a 550 owner if the 550 happens to be a Kawasaki.....

i like the painted fenders, and the color. are those black handle bars? nice seat... who made that?

with the above mentioned details, mirrors, and the addition of bullet type blinkers and smaller tail light your ride would have a subtle contemporary look.

Sorry to hear about the shop rip-off.  However..think you've done an excellent job starting and maintaining this thread. (Anyone else care to back me up on this?).  I for one..always look forward to seeing what's new here.  Remember: we all are still shooting for the 200th owner.

[I looked for a year or so for my current one...almost bought a couple..eventually found the cream puff of my fantasies]  There are still a lot of 550's out there..so..

Maybe some others here have leads on 550's?
