sabotage and help needed
« on: February 02, 2008, 05:00:05 PM »
Took my engine to work to wash and paint it. Found out today that someone thought to poor a whole can of POR engine paint into my engine. AARHHHHHH! I removed my clutch cover and dropped the pan. I cleaned out all that I saw and sprayed out the inside of the engine. The engine had oil in it and I had previously turned it over so that everything was coated in oil. My question is that if some paint was missed, what are the chances of it coming back to haunt me in the future? I am concerned that some may be trapped in the crank area of the engine. I turned the engine all direction to try to flush it out but where I can't see I cant be sure. I plan that once I get it into the frame and running to change the oil and filter again after a short ride. Thanks in advance for any advice and I hope that none of you have any experience with this. Should of taken pictures, you would not have believed the mess.

I don't get why they would do something like that  ???

Did/do you have the motor apart?  I'd do a complete cleaning if that's the case, if not I'd warm it way up and do an oil change right away.

Man,  that's just evil.  I believe that people engaging in such things will get theirs eventually, even if it is through their own personal misery.

I have no suggestions or helpful hints, only best wishes for a positive turnout.

All the best-

I'd tear it down now and check all the oil passages. If one passage gets clogged your looking at a possible major rebuild. Better safe than sorry IMO!!!

I'd get every minute's worth of frustration back beating someone's ass.  Someone knows who did it.  People can't keep a secret.

-Oops did I just type that?  Just thinking out loud.

Sorry to hear you work with someone that would do that.

since this has turned into the get even theme... canned cat food in the spare tire well or in the air intake always works (especially if its the middle of summer ::))

dont know first hand if this works, but I think it would. Take fuel line and a trash bag (heavy duty) and use the fuel line to push it down into the gas tank. The idea is that the trash bag floats around in the tank and will get around fuel intake sporadically causing an intermitent stall of the engine. after a few minutes of sitting the bag floats away and engine runs again until the bag gets sucked up again. I dont know how well the plastic would survive in the tank, but even if it disolves it should make one hell of a mess to injectors, jets etc.

A friend of mine did that to the class superstar football player/@sshole in high school. Too bad he didn't discover it till he sat down in the drivers seat. ;D Lord my buddy was lucky. He's a scrawney little guy, but he never got ratted out.

Mean, but I know it works because It happened to my wife (before I knew her).  Take an egg and crack it open down the A/C intake(by the windshield wipers).  It will rot and NEVER come out.

Clam juice in the cowl vents has a nice effect, so do salmon eggs, never thought of the canned cat food idea as earlier mentioned but sounds wonderful.

It was probably sitting next to the engine that was about to be painted with it. ;)

he drives a car you said, if you can do it without getting caught, get the strongest tape you can findand have some fun.....
tape a heavy nut to the inside flat surface of each front wheel and then tape another one to the tailshaft, no permanent damage but will make driving real bad till he works it out lol

Unless you are 100% sure who did that to you, the only thing worse than what have happened to you is that you do something wrong to an innocent.

..and, if you are that certain as to who did it, why not just "discuss it" with them?

I'm all for letting someone know that they didn't get away free.  Some people don't put their wrong-doings and delayed reprecussion together.  You really have to spell it out for them.

People are weird. I work with Air Traffic Controllers and associated people involved in all sorts of pretty skilled professions, they mostly earn pretty good money. And yet, someone is stealing stuff out of lockers, bags, handbags. Stealing the money out of honesty boxes. Stealing food and money from the cafeteria. They obviously don't do it because they are short of money. He, she, they, just do it to fu*k with our heads. Management, as usual, are totally useless at setting up a sting operation. A "strongly worded" message in the daily email round seems to cut it for them. How pathetic!

It's probably your cleaning staff TC, most of the thefts that occurred here proved to be light fingered cleaners. Cheers, Terry. ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"
