Man- there's some defensive people here.
I wasn't even considering what bikes were on that video.  i just saw it as wannabe's getting in over their heads with mom's video camera.
Just a funny video- that's all.
Dude- your 8 layers are showing!

I'm so embarrassed for that guy.  I guess if it makes him happy, then more power to him, but dayum I have to get out the listerine to rinse away the little puke in my mouth that happened.

I want that 20 seconds of my life back.

Yeah, whatever.  Isn't there enough pro-Harley crap on the magazine racks, internet sites, music videos, television ads, cameos, custom shows, bars, malls, etc?

Why do we need this BS on a Honda motorcycle board?

I can handle this discussion just fine.  I'm just sick and tired of the Harley BS.  With all the thousands of places on the Internet for Harley bull#$%*, why bring it to the SOHC4 Honda website?

You want open discussion?  Here you go:

I've ridden more than enough Harleys.  As a proud American, I've always wanted to like Harleys.  I've also felt enormous pressure from friends and family to ride Harleys.  So, I really wanted to give them a chance, despite all of the issues we've all heard about.

A few weeks ago I put about 200 miles on a 2007 HD Road King in the desert outside Las Vegas one day.  With all the options, MSRP was just over $20,000.00.  The Road King is a worthless piece of crap.  I couldn't wait to turn it in.  It is too top-heavy, too heavy in general, shakes like it is falling apart at idle, takes a nose-dive every time you apply the brakes, is a gutless pig topping out at 105mph, handles like an oil tanker, and has various other annoying qualities.  It shakes so much that it scratched up all the hard items in the hard luggage!!!

I missed my 77 CB550 so much, I couldn't believe it!  As soon as I got home, I took her out for a spin, and it was like heaven.  Going back to my 550 was like removing leg-irons and being able to run free again!  The only problem is that there aren't any brainwashed red-necks lined up outside every diner and bar waiting to tell me how nice my Honda is.  Luckily, my ego is just fine without the empty compliments from the wannabees.

I agree with about all that was said above..and before.  After watching the video..couldn't help wondering if that guy really expected to be taken seriously..guess so.  But started to feel nauseating after first minute or so.

Yeah..I'm probably biased against Harley's..for the very reason illustrated in the video..and fact that I've ridden them in past.  Personally I feel that Harley's and most V-twin push-rod bikes are effort to re-live the nostalgia of past (plus being disgustingly hyped by the Harley marketers).  Same could be said of us SOHC 4 riders too..I guess.  But @ least we're about 30 years more advanced in our likes, appreciation for engineering advancements seems to me.

Bottom line (like Gordy implies) it's mostly a matter of personal taste & preferences I guess.  I really love Japanese food, women & bikes! (not necessarily in that order).

I was meaning to ask edbikerini, if he tours 2 up on his 550. I do know people that have done this.. but if he does a lot of that, I bet his comparison to the other bike would differ..

i dont like the big twin harleys at all, too heavy, top heavy and theyre pretty sluggish without some heavy mods. i DO like sportsters, theyre light compared to the big twins and they have plenty of power too. i prefer japanese and brit bikes but i respect ANYONE that rides whether they show me that same respect or not.

Fuzzy. I agree  with most of that.

Neil, If insurance classes are anything like here, get an 883 & bore it out, usually cheaper all around.

Gordon, you posted a question. I answered it. It may or may not have delivered my intent. You then changed it to what you were thinking (or at least to whatever you typed).. you have all the right to. Anyone asking a question on here, may get an answer.

yaaa that is a bit corny.

Sorry for the smart azz it just comes and goes at will.
Yep, i have issues with this sort of stuff.

[/quote]it's the only thing that stopped me from buying a 1200.
$1800 to $2400 for the year....and that's with the factory alarm (effing joke) >:(
i don't know what the deal is here with insurance rates on bikes in Ontario. my Toyota Celia was less to insure brand new.

Ok.. here it is 400-750
750-1000, then
100-1300, then 1300 and up.. at least it used to be.

Main thing though, you can convert an 883 for less than the price difference of a 1200.. at least it was like that..
