A luthier friend of mine has his work bench built on the lifting mechanism.  He changes the height according to what he is working on.  Might be a good engine bench device.  Just think of the weight of some of the people who have been in that chair.  I think that it would lift a baby elephant.
"Sure, if you don't want that bike in your backyard, I guess I'll take it."  "I'll probably just scrap it......"

That looks like a barber chair, great find! Fits great in the garage.

I for sure thought it was a barber chair (not a dentist chair) from the get-go. 8)

I finally relented today and had my favourite carpenter come to build a work bench for me, the 8ft card table was just a bit useless.
I know given a day or so I could do it myself, but I also know I'm not the greatest carpenter.  He said he could do it in 2 hours.
He actually did it in 1 1/2 hours!

-Supplies $120.00
- Labour    $60.00

TOTAL $180.00  ;D ;D

I gave him this photo from online.

And I got this 8)

Well bro, I gotta be the first to say NICE!

Stacy just got home and saw my lower case half on her "work bench". You know the area I'm talking about. The area like the one in Kathleen's kitchen by the sink  ;) ;D

I worked in an electric motor shop when I was 20 years old: the re-winding benches were on top of barber chair pedestals, so we could raise or lower them as needed.
Don't fix it if it ain't broke!

My other work bench in the house has a full set of drawers. After may hours cramped up and scrunched up wet sanding stuff the leg room issue was a must for this one ;D
