That would be a guy nicknamed Yellow Wolf riding the Tail of the Dragon (Deal's Gap).  He's a regular up there.

I crashed on that a few weeks ago myself  ;D

Am I nuts or does that road make one giant go around? You see the ground standing by the roads edge twice and a couple of the turns look the same???

I just "acquired" (long story) an 86 Honda Goldwing GL1200 Interstate.

While admittedly, it looks like your Grandpa's Oldsmobile, I have found it quite fun to ride.

A couple comments from some female friends:

"Wow, that's cool!  You're a real Winger now.  You can ride that one until you're eighty!"

AND

HER: "There's no such thing as a non-dangerous motorcycle."
[then she went into the garage and had a look]
HER: "Yeah, I guess it is more appropriate for a sixty year old.  It is just so damned big.  It is the size of an Accord."

Now, I don't let those comments deter me.  I have discovered that my GL1200 will pull wheelies on just throttle pulling away from stop lights.  She tops out at around 120mph, and you hardly even feel it.  I find it very enjoyable to lean her over into twisties and drag the saddle bags all over the road.  I guess I'll soon have holes in the bottoms and all my ice-water will leak out, allowing my beer to get warm.  At least I'll still have the stereo* and CD-changer to keep me entertained while I drag pegs, exhaust, and saddlebags all over town.  ;D ;D ;D

*[actually, I hate stereos on bikes for safety reasons, but I enjoy pulling up in front of sidewalk cafes with "low-rider" blasting -- you should see the crazy looks I get from people!!!  What a trip!!!]

Right?   Isn't that freakin' cool?  Amazingly enough, I get a real kick out of being a hooligan on an 800 lb. motorcycle that handles itself as well as the GL1200 does.  Did you see him pull that burnout with the little wheelie at the end?  Woo Hoo!!!  I couldn't believe it when I accidentally pulled a wheelie on my GL1200, either.

I had a friend who got a goldwing becaiuse he kept getting speedingg tickets on his HD. He then stripped the bike down to bare bones- and got clocked at 100MPH on a freeway on ramp. He was taking the bus for a year after that. The cop who pulled him over asked him if he was wondering how he was going to get to work, my friend replied "No I am wondering how to tell my wife that I got clocked at 100MPH at the age of 47."

 ;D ;D

I once got clocked at 127mph, but not on the Dragon.

Rode the dragon a few times. A very dangerous road what w RV's and tractor trailers taking up both sides of the road when they come into turns. If you go, be careful.

Yeah, that was a HUGE miscalculation!!!  He really thought a Goldwing would be SLOWER than a Harley?  Wow, was he wrong.

That was no stock Harley he rode. Told me that it would do 90MPH up a mountainside one handed so he could open his beer with his left hand...

But yeah the GW he had was slick- especially once he tore it down to the frame.

No need to figure how to explain to the wife why I did 100 mph on our GoldWing - she's usually sitting right behind me telling me to slow down. Speeding is much too easy on a Wing! 47? We're in our late 50's.
Cheers,
Cliff.

Yeah, I love that site.  One day when I have more time (yeah right) I'm gonna "soop up" my 'wing, too.  But I'm gonna leave the tupperware on it to surprise the squids.
