Hopefully I wasn't bidding against anyone in here!  If I was I'm sorry, but I really wanted it.

Yep, it doesn't seem to be a biker jacket because the zip is not covered.

I'm sorry for raining in your parade, but it seems like a fashion jacket with a Honda patch. Hopefully at least the leather is good quality, if not for riding, at least for fashion.

The wrinkles make me think that the leather is not very thick. Anyway, it's a cool looking jacket, that's for sure.

According to the seller and a photo the jacket is a mid '70's Hondaline (made for/by Honda) riding jacket.  There was no photo that showed the jacket unzipped, so I don't know if there was a flap on the inside or not.  Most of the riding jackets I've seen don't have an outside flap, but have one on the inside to block wind infiltration.

As for leather thickness - we'll see when it gets to me!  It's hard to tell, but I think a lot of the 'wrinkles' are seams sewn into the leather.  I didn't spend a huge amount on it, so if it turns out to be unworthy as a riding jacket I won't be upset.   ;D

You are right, I didn't think that the flaps can also be on the inside. As my riding jacket have it on the outside I just assumed is the same everywhere.

When you get it don't forget to give us feedback. I recently bought a gastank cap and found a jacket from the same seller. It was not a riding jacket but looked cool, so I bid on it. Unfortunately I was outbid, normal because I didn't bid high just in case the jacket didn't fit me.

That's a great bike jacket mate, I've got one at home just like it, and yes, it is a genuine bike jacket, just some of our pals here haven't been around long enough to "remember when".

I don't wear mine any more though, it sseems to have "shrunk" a little (well a lot, actually) since  I bought it 25 years ago, ha ha! Cheers, "Old Timer" Terry. ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

Son of a b$^&h!  I'm a 48 ... I was asking because a lot of stuff "from the day" seems to be tiny, like only little shrimpy guys rode. If you ever want to unload it, let me know.

Nice jacket......been looking for something like that for ages.

As for the inner flap behind zips debate - this is actually to stop burns, not protect against the weather. If you hit the ground in a spill there is a lot of heat build up. It's newton refusing to allow energy to be destroyed. If a zip, or any other metal gets hit in an accident it gets almost red hot. Ever noticed that smell of a car crash, that's burnt paint. Anyway back to the zip, they have leather flaps BEHIND the zip to keep it away from your skin.
In the UK anything over 40 years old only needs insurance and Fuel.

I fianlly got the jacket today and I must say - it fits very well.  The sleeves may be a half in to short and the total length may be an inch shorter than I would really want, but I think it's a true 'modern' size 48.  I'm at work now, but I'll put it on and snap some photos when I get home.  I'll post them if you guys want to see what it looks like.

After trying on some Vanson jackets, the thickness of the leather on this one seems to be a bit thinner.  It definitely isn't as heavy.  The jacket is constructed well, though.  Talon zippers, quilted lining

It has a thick, 'vintage' smell to it - anybody know if you can have the jacket liner dry cleaned without screwing up the leather?

Oh yeah, I found a reciept in the pocket from 1996!  ha ha ha.

Any reputable dry-cleaning shop should be able to clean the liner without damaging the leather.  I've had it done before and had no  problems.

I agree,
My favourite leather jacket is over 20 yrs old... and it seems to have shrunk too.
The fact that i'm 25kg heavier now has nothing to do with it of course

I had to buy a new jacket this year and my youngest son is wearing my old one...

I got a really old Rockers era jacket that fits really well. If I put on much more muscle it won't any more though.

Beer guts don't actually qualify as muscle mate, ha ha! Cheers, Terry. ;D

It's been worth the effort so far  ;) (but i still don't fit that jacket properly anymore)

I have a leather jacket that was used by a french motorcycle policeman It had a date stamp from 1978 on one of the tags, I think it so cool and I haven't seen any around here.
I have had people offer to buy it off my back while on vacation in S.F but declined.
I have been working hard on my table muscle so it does not fit right now but I really like the coat so I will trimming down this winter.
I farted and made my son cry.

Table muscle?!?!?! I'm afraid to ask. I'd like to buy your jacket though...as long as you haven't had it too close to your table muscle. ;D ;D ;D
