Dude I am looking forward to the step by step on the rims. Can't wait! This thing is gonna be awesome! I'm probably going to do the same process on the frame, but can't decide if I want to go flat or satin. Really want this to be my inspiration!

I can't get enough of that R/W/B!!! Base white and probably decal swatches.

I have some pics of all the pieces de-calcified ( or whatever we're supposed to call it.) I have a polishing kit..so hopefully sometime this weekend I'll get the rear collar and associated parts shined up.

Just an FYI.

Photos use up a lot of bandwidth and server space that someone has to pay for, and while your ability to remember the placement of every washer and every bolt may be limited some of ours may not. Is there a possibility of streamlining the complete disassembly process just a bit?

The parts catalogue does an excellent job of showing the location of all those parts too.

The thought about how much space pix use up never occurred to me.

I'm one of the culprits of the Honda, board track, et al... Threads. Thanks for pointing that out.

Forgive my ignorance but I've been posting using Photobucket too. What's the diff between that and adding pix with the 'additional options' feature.

If you have stashed the pictures on photobucket then the server space is used anyway.

Linking there from here may increase the bandwidth usage, it really depends upon how big the pictures are.
No more than 72dpi is necessary for a PC screen and a 600x400 picture shouldn't take up too much space.

Using the "attach" feature on this forum uploads your pictures to our server. That's why there's a size limit!

Looking back at some of the pictures, they are larger than necessary. 1024 won't fit on a normal screen as part of this thread, 600 wide is much better.
Add the html width=600 directly after the [img tag (for example: [img width=600] ) and the forum will size the picture for you. All you have to do is remember that 1M pictures are a waste - 100k is better!

I'm gonna need a little more help.... 3 questions....

1) To clarify... there isn't really any saving bandwidth when you link from Photobucket vs posting with the "attach" function?

2) here is a copy of one of the pics...

and I should change it to this when pasting?

3) when I'm using the photo editor (before loading onto photobucket)...I compress to about 300k... should I reduce down to the 56k before posting?

Yes - but don't bother with the "height=" tag as the s/w will automatically size the height based on the width selected and the original aspect ratio.

To confirm:

Hosted pictures use bandwidth - so don't make them too big
Attached pictures use (our) server space

But as FunJimmy says, it may not be OUR server, but someone pays for it in the end.

Compress down to about 100k as this will give good resolution at 600x450, 56k is going to be a bit grainy, while 300k is wasteful.

Sorry this came up on your forum. I wasn't trying to pick on you.
Over the years you hear all sorts of concerns about bandwidth and storage issues.
Some, technology sorts out for us and, some it doesn't.
Steve's comments have enlightened me a lot about photo storage both off site and on.
It would be great to see it added to the posting FAQs for all to understand.

Now lets get back on topic!

This forum (Project Shop) was set up specifically to collect threads like this, which would otherwise sink down hundreds of pages in the other forums.

So I got some help from Hush... and I wanted to thank you very much for that.....

but in my noobness....I came across the next hurdle and said...Don't hit it with a hammer just yet.

I put the bearings next to each other as detailed

looks like I don't need the spacer as I'm level

so I proceed as the instructions shows..

tapped them down

but here's where I have a question..

Do I set this in the bottom of the frame with a rubber/plastic hammer?

I understand that I would then place the top bearing/gasket/race on the step and tap that down as well...?

Man I love the website...! too many cool bikes... I kinda mocked somethings up...installed the rear wheel and finally got the rear brake/stabilizer worked out..

But... I need some help..... I'm interestd in going with just a speedo.. but the current position has it directly above the headlight bucket.

Has anyone done a speedo only ( in the center ) and how diid you run the cable? help?

BTW: is your headlight bucket on upside down? Surely the cutout for the wiring faces down and back?

JEEZE! HA! I thought I had everything looking right... totally missed the upside down bucket... ( I now see the screw hole facing down)

I'm really thinking about drilling the hole and going straight through... use a couple of grommets to seal up the hole a bit... shouldn't be any binding of anything... not sure... gonna have to scratch my head a bit on that one..
