I love lost wax. Are you going to be doing the investing (burnout and casting) or are you taking it somewhere? The one thing I've never been able to get 'right' is that somehow the ring is supposed to be very slightly smaller than the wax mold you've carved, and i always over-shoot and the ring ends up being way too big.

I'm sure yours will turn out great, and it's such a neat and unique thing to do.

Maybe try looking at various settings in jewelry shops, particularly the ones that make their own pieces, and get an idea. Some artists are so happy to find another enthusiast that they'll offer a lot of very good advice.
