where was the installation? do u get paid for this?

It was part of a school project. So I just get paid with a grade... We had originally installed the actual objects you see here, and then we were required to photograph it and put it back up as a full scale image.  There is a whole wall covered with images, creating a 'tapestry' of domestic activities.  From this we did a second project that in which we move from the representation of the domestic activity to making a model at a scale of our choosing.  I built a full size room, it has movable wall and ceiling panels to allow the study of the effect of room shape, and size on the acoustics of the space.

Dunno if these would be considered art..

But just wanted to show them off. Experimented around with these today and the results were actually kinda cool!

They're stereographic images. 3D pics. Please check this link to find out how to look at them. No. You wont need 3d glasses. You can do this just sitting in front of your monitor.

Really pretty proud of how they came out. Hope you like them too. Ow. And sorry about that ugly black bike in the way..

Sorry to hear. It can be kinda tricky and may take some patience. The trick is to deliberately go cross eyed while looking at the picture. You'll see a third picture starting to form in the middle. That's the picture you want to concentrate on. Once you see the picture appear between the outer ones, Dont force anything. Allow your brain some time to catch up. Your visual wiring will automatically want to make sense of the mess and after just a few seconds you'll start seeing the center picture coming into focus. Really quite rewarding once you get it. Maybe not these particular pictures though but still..:) They're all over the interwebs as well..

Once you've done it a couple of times, You'll notice you can do it pretty much on command.

That's really incredible.  How do you make pics like that? Is it just that they're kind of high resolution, and exactly the same side by side, or...?

Hey kit! thanks. It really is foreheadslappingly obvious when explained. It gave me an offcourse! moment myself. The trick is to take two pictures side by side about 2,5 to 3 inces apart (the distance between your eyes!) and toe the camera in slightly (really what you're doing is picking a distinct point far away in the picture background and line it up center in the shot every time - pretty much the way your brain translates depth) If you were to do a search on ebay for "stereo camera" you will find a whole slew of camera's with two lenses on 'm that were used for this, but the same effect can be achieved by just moving your digital compact 2.5 to 3 inches over.

You can increase the distance between the two shots to give you a "hyperdepth" illusion but experimenting with that gave me a massive headache and itll become more difficult for your brain to make soup outta those. you can use this software (http://stereo.jpn.org/eng/stphmkr/) for free to put the made pictures side by side and it will align them correctly (hold down ctrl to select first a left and then a right picture.. was ready to throw my pc across the room before I figured that one out. if the stereo effect doesnt look right, swap your left and right picture; you're looking at it crosseyed remember?) if you're a bit off (part of the difficulty lies in keeping the camera at exactly the same horizontal point) and voila. I made a plastic thingamabob on which to slide the camera after the first shot so I wouldnt have to guess whether or not its still on the same horizontal line.

They used to make these back in the day for stereoviewing and its the same principle as used in viewmaster viewers.

Glad you liked 'm!

Yeah. It does have the potential for massive headaches. Got so intrigued with these that i pretty much ended up chewing up half a bottle of excedrin which in turn lead me to not beeing able to sleep, but they are some nice pics..:) Will have to investigate whats up with bike next. Think its missing on two cylinders so im suspecting I have a coil going bad.. ahwell. Maybe it wasnt too charmed with sitting out in the heat for those pix..

I got it to work which really susprised me couse I never could get the blurry pic out a image #$%* of days gone by to work.

I found if I cupped my hands around my eyes and block out the outside images I could really bring it in quick

THAT is seriously messed up.. especially considering you need the outer two images to make the center one!  ;D :o (as in you need both eyes to make a picture with depth??) How in the world did you do that??
