Tweek bar ?
« on: January 03, 2009, 03:16:25 AM »
Hi All, Will a tweek bar off of a 74 550F also fit a 350F? Is the twin 350 tubes the same as a 350F? Many thanks Tattoo

LOL Yes I can see your point. But you have a photo of a custom bike in your profile so I would think you should know. LOL. It's the brace between the fork tubes like the nice guys photo shows.  8) Tattoo

Actually, that's a fork brace (mounts to the lower sliders).
A tweek bar mounts directly on the fork tubes to strengthen up the forks (usually on extended forks).

 Like this.

I have one of those !!! It was on a CB750 Chopper abomination I bought.  It now resides in a box in my garage.  Check out  http://kingcustomcycles.com/home.html (my site) for a whole bunch more Bobbers and Honda Projects.  To answer your question on the tubes, same diameter I am certain, length I am not 100% sure.

The hole spacing(fork to fork) also has to be correct along with the fork tube diameter.

Hmmm.. bike builders that dont know what a tweek bar is??

tings are different these days...

I had a customer that had a really long front end, wideglide about 16 or 18 over. He did not want to mess up the lines of the forks with a tweak bar so we built a brace for the stock type 21 inch fender.. out of 1/4 6061..

we bent and we bent and we bent.. til we got it pretty much like the stock mount. maybe a bit of sanding to help the curve, but no cutouts like stock and WAYYYY stiffer.. it probably helped a lot..

If you make a brace like beemers used, like a double horseshoe, with flat bar in between, I think is the stiffest you will find.. or the even easier to build type like I have on my green 73 750 ..(an afternoon project)

Modern sportbikes use a metal horseshoe inside the fender in most cases.  Less clutter and easier to fab.  No doubt stiffer also as they are 4 or more inches wide.

I guess another question to ask is the tripple trees the same on a 550 as a 350? You know the things the tubes slide through that the handle bars mount to? LOL  8) Tattoo

Let's fire this thread back up, I'm hoping 754 knows...I have a stock front end with a cycleX boxer frame..it appears to be raked a little..Which would do me better? a fork brace or a tweek bar? I am suffering from some front end wobble entering any corner where lean is needed. FYI i have NO front fender an a single caliper front brake set-up.thanks in advance.

Tweak bars are for extended forks. For stock length forks, a fork brace is used. If you have a wobble merely leaning into a mild turn, I would take a good look at the wheel alignment!!
