I won't make mention of my friend (dave) who wanted so desperately to do this same thing that he stripped apart out his entire '77 cb750k, sold the engine, and aside from a few bits he gave to me for free, has now sitting in/outside his folks garage.  Poor bike.  I do love dave, he's a great friend.

But, just to play devils advocate (and according to some on this board), that monstr-electr-osity is no worse than what some of us are doing to our bikes (eh ehm...me perhaps, just to name a a name?:) ).

...but at least mine will still burn oil :)
I need help moving my project bike from Wisconsin to Seattle, WA.  Willing to pay well.  Contact if interested.

Touché Babyfood. LOL.

But really, this is the biggest travesty of all. You might feel, we the café crowd or perhaps the bobber crowd have desecrated the coveted CB, but come on….electric motor and a rheostat! No no no.

Hopefully the batteries will fuse and blow his nuts off! ;D
Can't wait for the logical next evolutionary step backwards, obviously that will be a steam driven cb750 weighing in at half a ton.
The ability to burn old shoes, coal and road kill will be desirable.
These great leaps backward will be followed quickly by the advent of wooden wheels with steel rims.
I think the thing I most like about motorcycling is the speed at which my brain must process information at to avoid the numb skulls who are eating pies, playing the ukulele, applying make-up etc in the comfort of their airconditioned armchairs as they make random attempts to kill me!!!!!!!

Just think.  In a few years we can have Electrolyte brand threads instead of oil brand threads.

I guess it's not any more sacrilegious than the things we choppers do to our bikes.
Let's just hope he comes to his senses eventually and drops the motor back in  :)

Aside from the fact that he's uglying up a nice looking bike where does he think the electricity comes from? Probably a coal or fuel burning plant. So just because he doesn't see the emissions doesn't mean they are not being created.
Also batteries eventually wear out and have to be disposed of.
What is the net environmental impact of this project?

The A is considered the "bastard" model of the 750.

Hey Fishead !
I will be vigilant against posters mocking my (and others ) beloved 750A's.
Not 'bastards' thank-you-very-much !
When you guys are tottering in the Old Folks home ... us 'No Shifters" will still be capable of riding our bikes !!!

If your talking about the Awesomely Beautiful, Technically Advanced 750A models, that would be "Spanner 1" who is in charge of the floggings. :D ;D
He sent me home with my tail between my legs, took my lunch money and pulled the chair out from under me. However, I was quick enough to escape the dreaded “T!tty Twister” that I had coming to me. :'(

I think electric bikes are awesome, but you hate to see it to a classic in such good condition.  Cost to power those things are somewhere around 2-3 cents/mile.  Our gas engines are close to that now with gas being so low, but they won't be for too long.  90ish% efficiency from electric engines vs our lower 22ish%.

Environmental impact can be debated for both sides with electricity being from coal and the disposal of those batteries.

That is sad to see only if he stripped it apart to make that monstrosity, if one started out with just a carcus of a bike aka basket case. It wouldn't be as dissapointing. I was just marveling at one on the instructables website, man that site is the coolest thing since the invention of the indoor outhouse...
