Ok, I wasn't sure where to put this post but having seen a few requests for this kind of information over the years I thought I would document the fairing bracket that came with my Rickman.

There are lots of pictures with a measuring tape so it shouldn't be too hard to re-create this kind of bracket by one with knowledge and skill in the metal working arts

The fairing is held in place by 3 stays. One connects the back wings of the fairing to the frame, the other two connect the main bracket to the gas tank posts.

The main bracket holds a standard headlight bucket at the bottom set of holes.

Here's the rear stay:

In this picture below you can see that there is an additional piece of metal needed which will go on top of the frame rail and bolt into this bottom one.

Next is the main bracket:

Notice the two little tangs at the bottom of this part. They sit on either side of the steering lock on the neck of the bike providing lateral stability to the fairing. Pretty clever.

Thanks for that, I just ordered a small fairing. If I don't like what comes with it, that will give me a starting point.

Those little "tangs" also reduce the steering lock so that you don't trap your fingers against the fairing when turning the bars. Low speed manouvreability sucks though!

Steve not sure if the PO had the correct bars (Clubman's

?)on but my fingers did jam when turning the bars,it was on a 74 550.

That's an MOT (Inspection) failure over here, which is why Rickman designed them that way.

Thanks tjjkc. No bondo, but I laid fiberglass over a couple of the impact areas inside. Sandable primer covered up the tiny spider cracks on the outside very well.

The fairing feels like it stiks way out front... I need to mock it up with my triple tree and clubmans and make sure everything fits ok. Were there clubmans on the 550 that this came off or were they clip on?

These were taken on the bike's 50,000th mile "birthday" in Feb '80

It had a 550K3 seat and tank.
A Rickman Type 2 fairing.
Piper 4-1
Fiamm air horns
Drilled disk
Cibie headlamp
Bar-end mirror

Ben.......the bars that were on were Clubman's .no idea of the brand,I will see if I can find a pic of it.......

Thanks for the pics Steve! Really helpful. I was also wondering as to the nose angle of the fairing as my bracket holds the nose higher than I would expect, but it looks like it will be the same as yours.

I don't remember the height as being adjustable as it is dictated by the front mounting bracket (which is why the 400/500/750 brackets were slightly different).

At the end of the day, your hands shouldn't hit the tank on full lock or get trapped underneath the fairing on the opposite lock.
My Rickman 750 traps your hands badly...

Steve, yours does sit a bit lower and closer. Looks good

Thanks tom that picture confirms my opinion.....

Now I'm going to mock up the front end and see what I can do about the height without getting my hands trapped.

Just FYI, Steve... I have the same clearance problem on my Rickman CR with Rickman clipons. I think I'm going to go with adjustable 41mm Tommasellis on the next one to see if I can fine tune the riding position just a little. RR

Your fairing looks lower, did you modify the stock bracket to have it sit lower?

Not many pics right now, and currently she's partially disassembled so I can polish the frame nickle-plating. I've had her many years but I'll be making her available soon so I can complete other projects.

I've attached a couple shots that may better show you the position of the clipons. Just note that the full fairing for the Rickman CR is slightly different from the Rickman fairing for the CB750 and may not sit in exactly the same position. RR

Purely as a point of interest (of course!), there's one on eBay.co.uk at the moment with a fairing that has been cut and molded to the engine/frame. I've not seen anything quite like it - but it looks good.

I know this is a old topic but can anyone here tell me where I can get a Rickman tank and what newer bike rear sets would fit on it??
I have a CR 750 I need to restore in Jamaica.

Hagar, the only one I know of who's making Rickman tanks is Air-Tech. They got ahold of a Rickman-Kawasaki and pulled a mold from the standard Rickman tank. That pattern was made for the Rickman chassis so if you're doing an actual Rickman, it should fit well. The Honda-Rickman CR750 tank had two cutaways in the bottom to clear the carb adjusters, so you might need to ask Air-Tech if their tank does as well.

You'd probably be best served using Tarozzi rearsets on a Rickman chassis. My previous Rickman CR used Laverda Jota rearsets and they were similar to the current Tarozzis. RR
