CAN ANYONE HELP TRACING MY 76 cb750's ROOT'S?
« on: March 11, 2009, 01:19:05 PM »
Hi everyone Glad to have found this  Awesome forum. I've just joined Today,

My question is can anyone help finding anything out about my bike i just bought It was lying in a barn for 15 yrs or so, Does'nt run but turns over  .not that any of this worries me i'm a Licensed Trained Tech.

Heres my dilemma, VIN # Is CB750-2564689 Says it's a 1976 model vin plate looks original never been off  No # on Engine, Engine looks brand new. shiney.  I've done a run on the vin plate Here in canada, the U.S and in Europe It's NEVER Been registered anywhere i can find out Im in Ontario canada It's not stolen nor has it ever been registered as coming into canada bt Canada Customs or Transport canada.

Is there any where i can call or e,mail honda/ etc or is there any resident Guru's on here up for the challenge to see where my bike originated from?

I'm seriously considering making a Cafe racer out of my bike but would  still ,like to trace it's origins
thanx for your help in advance

What part of Ontario are you in?

Your bike's frame # says it's a 76 imported into Canada.

What is the engine #? It's on the left side above the front chain sprocket.

It could be hard to see but it's got to be there.

These links should help.

It's mine!
It all comes back to me now, I remember clearly leaving my 750 lying in a barn somewhere in Canada, please crate it up and return it to me here in New Zealand..........Hush. ;D
I think the thing I most like about motorcycling is the speed at which my brain must process information at to avoid the numb skulls who are eating pies, playing the ukulele, applying make-up etc in the comfort of their airconditioned armchairs as they make random attempts to kill me!!!!!!!

More likely to be a broken case bike with new cases requiring a complete tare-down and rebuild.  I had one in 1970 and the new cases were blank.

If its been lying about for 15 years it will be from before computerised records so i doubt it will be on anybodies database as most places only entered the registered ones.

All my ID book sez it its a 76 model year and unless Canada is different to Uk all the Honda importers will be able to tell you is a date of manufacture and not even the original colour or engine number as Honda Japan only recorded frame numbers off the line against dates and no other data
Semi Geriatric ex-Honda mechanic and MOT tester (UK version of annual inspection). Garage full of "projects" mostly 500/4 from pre 73 (no road tax in UK).

Remember "Its always in the last place you look" COURSE IT IS YOU STOP LOOKIN THEN!

If there's no number on the top of the engine case, then Old Scrambler is probably right -- indicating your case was previously cracked (maybe by a thrown chain).  Replacements from Honda did not have serial numbers.
