I'd say so. My book calls for 10W40 year round, and 20W in temps from 32 to 60. 10W below 32*.
10w below 32 degrees? :o
Who in their right mind is gonna be riding when the average temperature is below 32 degrees! ;D
Makes my fingers turn blue just thinking about it!

Like I said, we ride year round up here as long as the roads are dry.

The dynabeads thread had gotten back to mostly nice and amicable, but was completely $#!+ted up by a few for no real reason.
Expect this thread ot get closed soon, too. Open forum would probably be a better place for this :)

The dynabead thread has now turned to the liars and fools agreeing the dynabeads work, and you particularly, are pretending you'll figure out why, thanks to ME.

So even with all your lying insults and whining, I converted your idiot ass.

Congratulations.  ;D

Thanks.
Anytime I see you post I leave that thread. You are an ass.

Please stop feeding the troll.  It may be fun and hard to resist poking at it at first, but you're only giving it fuel to stick around long after it's no longer entertaining for you anymore.

Google this clown and have a read, his unmistakable dribble is there for all to see. Been banned everywhere he's been, which doesn't surprise me in the least. Even the ignore button doesn't work with this idiot as everyone keeps quoting his crap for all to see.

Nah.  I'm gonna go mow the lawn.

What brand of oil do you use in the mower?  :)

I might have actualley mixed a little blood in mine the other day, as I had a bleeding finger when I changed my oil and it one of small wounds that just won't stop bleeding. So maybe I'll be blessed with a loyal bike forever. But on a more serious note, is it better to run 20/50 in warmer temps and 10/40 in cooler?

I ran 20W-50 when I lived in Austin and it was 100ยบ everyday, but I have no proof it did anything other than help keep my oil pressure up a bit.

I do know for a fact that the blood method works.  Guar.  An.  Teed.

Trolls feeding trolls.....Priceless!! Back on subject, you boys must know that car oil was used in your bikes for the first 10-15 years of it's life right?

Which is why I continue to use it, I thought about synthetic but decided agaist it as I heard that it can cause clutch slipage in these old bikes.

If you use the wrong synthetic, it can cause slippage but then so can car oil. I use synthetic and I have nothing but great shifts.

What kind of synthetic are you useing? Mobil 1 is all I use in my cars and truck. I've been running just regular Castrol 10 w 40 in the 750.

THis correct, but car oils 25 years ago were different than car oils today.
Modern auto oils have additives that reduce friction. Great for cars because they do not share their engine oil with the clutch.
Motorcycles do.
That means you are reducing friction in the clutch plates. Great if you like clutch slippage, not so great if you don't.
I, personally, don't.
No.

Many on here laugh at the idea, but I, like you use it. You just have to do a little homework and stay away from the ones that are all proud of their friction modifiers. Great in a car, but not so good for our wet sump systems. You also may have to change the oil a little sooner than you would with the high dollar shop oil. I recommend Chevron Delo 400, Delvac 1300, or Shell Rotella in 15W40 weight.

I'm still searching for an additive that would make the proprietary brand differences less important in our choice.
The additive should reduce engine vibration, increase smoothness, maintain viscosity and protect against loss of clutch-plate friction.................If it already existed, it would probably be named.......dare I say it........dyna-oil.                       ;D

You can safely use Shell Rotella 5W40 in a full synthetic. No slippage. Wally's has it. It is made for Diesels with high temp, high speed turbos which is why it is an excellent oil for our bikes.
