A historical name in British motorcycles is riding back into the two-wheeled world at a major show in November.

British manufacturer Norton makes its jubilant return in Birmingham, England this year to launch their exciting new range of models at The Carole Nash International Motorcycle & Scooter Show 2009. The show is held in the same city where legendary motorcycle manufacturer was founded back in 1898.

Now based at Donington Park, Norton will be unveiling two important new machines, the 961 Commando (pictured below) and the Café Racer Commando to the world at the internationally renowned show.

Stuart Garner, British entrepreneur and bike enthusiast, resurrected the iconic marque and bought the rights in 2008 to re-launch the brand.
   
Norton has since embarked on a vigorous marketing campaign including a return to the Isle of Man where they showcased their unique rotary engined race-bike. Norton has, since 1907, had strong links to the Isle of Man TT where a twin-cylinder Norton won its class in the first ever TT.

Norton are also displaying the NRV588 Rotary race bike. Garner was recently seen speed testing a Norton rotary NRV at Bonneville Salt Flats in the USA, logging over 180mph for a 173mph average run.

Kewl - I will look for that as I am eager for more info on the new Norton. That post link is interesting too - I also like the Brough's. Vincent is my total lust as far as Brit bikes go but I am not holding my breath for a resurrection anytime soon - guess I will have to "settle" for the Norton (if I can either win a bunch of money somehow or maybe sell a kidney?   lol)

Someone should do a Norton featherbed frame re-pop* so you could put a Triumph engine into it and have a modern Triton - that would rock!  (spank me and call me Missy retro but I just luv the old stuff! (or modern, retro inspired designs)

are you talking modern triumph? that would be cool too! i'd think it's only a matter of time before some anglophile with deep pockets tries it. then again at the rate of reproduction engines/bikes/ and pieces, someone may decide to cast up an old triumph twin.

maybe when the economy isn't sucking so bad.
