I bought my 1975 CB550K and brought it home today.

We've been getting to know each other for the past 8 hours. It needs lots of TLC, but I'm up for it!  :)

Welded on a beautiful rear hoop and seat combo from Harisuluv. Getting all of my wiring ready for the custom harness I ordered from The Dapper Motorcyclery that arrives tomorrow. Cant wait to start her up, this 74 550 has not ran in 15 years, just finished up the engine, so excited to hear her run!

Installed my new Pamco ignition with new plugs & caps (still running original coils). It's only 50 degrees with 30 mph sustained winds today, so only road around the block. But, I can already tell it runs smoother. Hopefully I get one nice day to ride before I put it away for winter.

Reinstalled left side case cover(sprocket cover)...it's ether the dirt biker in me, I'm weird or a bit of both...

...I like the exposed sprocket, chain, bits & pieces.  :-\

Short ride, still sorting out a stumble when I first open the throttle/slides under load....

I took my 750 for its annual MOT test it passed ok  8),  then I went for a ride to a couple of local biker meeting places,  there were a few classics out today  ;)  bumped into a guy on a cb550 at the first stop then at the second stop there was a very tidy Suzuki GS1000 and a Z1 ,

 ;) cheers Mick

Sgt.Pinback,

Somewhat long story, but the short version is, when my Ex and I separated, her lawyer wouldn't let me take the bike.  Then when all was settled 3 years later, and I got the bike, it looked like it had been hosed down.  Brought it to my house and it kind of sat in the garages until about a year ago.  During the nap time, I was involved in a whole bunch of other stuff and just didn't have the time to get her fixed up.  Until about a year and a half ago when my better half suggested fixing her up.  So I did and I'm not sorry.  Forgot how good it feels to go for a ride.  :)

dhall57,

First, GOOD to hear from you!  Been wondering if you were OK.
Second Thanks!  She's running nice and I'm just sorry the weather is turning cold here in NJ, so don't know how much riding I'll get to do this year.  It's supposed to warm up tomorrow, so will try and get out for a while.

Don't feel bad, that's not uncommon.

But perhaps someone before you tightened it too tight. I consider that one of the "squishables". That is you tighten till the sealing washer squishes, then a skosh more. Then ride it and see if it leaks. If so, a skosh more, if not, you're good.

Goes for drain plugs, oil filter covers, etc.
