I'm starting to worry about you Eric!  Ur health is good, yeah?  Marriage in fine shape?  Finances in good order?

But in many respects I understand needing to thin the herd. I have a puddly stable of only 4 bikes and don't have the time to keep 'em all roadworthy.
Can I have a motorcycle when I get old enough?
If you take care of it.
What do you have to do?
Lot’s of things. You’ve been watching me.
Will you show me all of them?
Sure.
Is it hard?
Not if you have the right attitudes. It’s having the right attitudes that’s hard.

Kawasaki 750 LTD? Nothing to see here folks, Eric is just doing some pruning........ ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

All is is good Bruce, wife is definitely a little happier though. Getting rid of some of those impulse buys that weren't as easy of a fix as I hoped.

Swapped the pilots in my 2nd CB500 back from #35 to #38 and reset the IMS screws from 5/8 to 1 turn out. Took it for a test ride - can't really tell the difference. I'm hoping I've cured the occasional hesitation I've been experiencing when gently rolling the throttle back on after slowing down and also sometimes the hunting for fuel when I'm trying to maintain speed at very small throttle openings.

I gave it a good buffing with the cloth wheel before taking the pic.

Considering a brass or nylon wheel for the bench motor.  Whaddya think?

Unfortunately Steve the antique furniture business has been in the dumper for quite awhile now. Do have some people coming up from Texas though for a load of Brandt Ranch Oak furniture made in Texas.Certain trends come and go and prices are reflected by that. Mid Century and Industrial are much stronger right now. Main reason for selling off some of the clunkers is to be able to park my truck in the shop this winter like usual and the extra space will be nice.

You need to use more intermediate steps before arriving at the cotton wheel. Nylon and Brass aren't going to improve the lustre or remove the fine scratches; the brass will add more.

Which intermediate step(s) would you recommend?

you should use progressively finer grits from 400-1500 before attacking with a wheel. Then 3 step rouges for optimum results.

I had hoped to avoid tedious hours of manual sanding  :o

Just rode it and this is my second trouble free ride in a row. No more leaky float valves or sooty spark plugs. I'm hopefully cautious here but I think I see a trend. Still gonna' keep an eye on the plug colors.

I occasionally take my girlfriend's bike (CB350F) out for an Italian tune up. Last time, it was missing on one cylinder for the first mile. This time, it never started running right. I took it home and:

1. Rebuilt the petcock with a new kit (and same old petcock). It still leaks a little from the fuel outlet with the fuel turned off - I think because of the pitting in the metal of the old petcock. This was unrelated to the problem - just delayed maintenance.
2. Checked the plugs. I identified the offending cylinder (#2) and checked the plug. It looked okay, and I swapped it with #1. If the problem persisted, I'd buy more.
3. Pulled the carbs. Checked all of the needle valves and jets for clogging. Eyeballed the balance. Everything looked fine.
4. Noticed that the float height on #2 was too small (high)? Adjusted to match #1. The float bracket thing is slightly corroded and may have bent out of adjustment naturally over time. Time for a new float?
5. Reinstalled the carbs.
6. Removed the in-line fuel filter and extra fuel line. I'd been having problems with fuel delivery when the tank was 1/3 full or lower. The new petcock screen looks good enough for now.
7. Inspected ignition and put everything back together.

Back out for another ride: It runs just like new!

Got my front wheel on, set the brake run out, checked the points wear and timing, aligned the forks, put the seat and tank on, gassed it up, and rode it!
