I had a 60km ride today on my blue avatar bike CB750 K6, only at 3000-4000 rpm to check pilot jets. Yesterday a 160km ride at same low speeds downsizing pilot jets.
A hot shower,  juicy Entrecote with a rich Italian red wine made me warm afterwards. The autumn is here.
I have to change pilots again tomorrow, back to smaller size, same as +one year ago.

That sounded good Per, but I had to google "Entrecote" to find out that it is a sirloin steak. Nice! I had my first home delivered pizza in a year last night, managed to eat 2 small slices before I wasn't able to eat any more, but it was delicious. I'll re-heat it tonight and have 2 more slices before I throw the other half out, and I'll wash it down with one of my delightful home brewed Ginger Beers. I'm looking at another Harley, it's an older one, but that's good as I can put it on cheap club registration if I buy it. ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

I bent my pry bar and almost snapped my flatheads trying to get these damn fork seals out. Currently letting them soak in PB Blaster while I'm at work so I can give it another go when I get home.

Time to fire up the torch and apply some heat to the seals to get them to be more pliable.

Tried to sort the 2-3 cylinders not firing, which has kept me off the road basically since I got back from my trip at the beginning of July because I just haven't had time to work on it.

I was able to confirm that if I switch the yellow and blue wires at the coils that the 2-3 will fire and the 1-4 won't. So the coils aren't the issue.

I have continuity from the 2-3 points to the connector at the coil.

Then I ran out of time for the day. The Distinguished Gentleman's ride is next Sunday, so I have to carve out some time this week to work it out.

It taste better when it was long time ago, Terry!
You can save the leftovers and reheat big enough slices and enjoy it longer.

Time for another bike? You must feel lucky to find one and just buy it. Like walking along a street full of bars with professionals and bring the hottest one back to your hotel ;)

I had another ride after work today with another step smaller pilot jets.
Ended up with 2 thick hot dogs in bread I made when back home. A half glass of the red leftovers helped them down.

I'll go down one pilot size further tomorrow. Back to the carbs stock size.
Edit: I'll lean it up by the needles this time, 1 notch down. Easy done except removal of the tank.

I used my ten pound slide hammer with a hook and my buddy holding the lower to get the seals out of the 550. And it took a few hits for each one, the worst I have ever done.

Nice seat work Jarrett

Well I got the bike started yesterday.  It’s the first time in 4+ years.  I had cleaned and reassembled carbs.  I haven’t vacuum synced or clear tube test yet.  Other than pulling plugs and cleaning I haven’t done a tune up yet.   I was just checking to see if I was in the ball park with my carbs and current set up. The thought being it will be easier to tweak the bike if it’s able to start and run.  So, I kicked until I was out of breath and leg was starting to burn. (Starter hasn’t worked since mid 80s.)  And nothing.   I let it sit for a little while, while I ran down grandson. Then figuring I’d give it one more try before putting back in building, I kicked some more.  It sound like it caught for a split second and maybe just one cylinder lol.  From there I keep kicking and choking / unchoking.   It started catching here and there until finally it hit.   I held gas at about 2500rpm. Turn in idle screw to hold it.  Waited a few mins and back the screw off until it dropped to 1200 rpm give or take.  I figured it would drop out but it held.  No black smoke or thick heavy white/gray smoke.   There was some smoke.  I can’t tell if it’s from a misadjustment or if it’s burning off the Marvel Mystery Oil left in the tank.   In any case I was very please.  Here is a snippet of how it sounded.  Still rough and no muffler installed yet but it’s somewhere to work from.

Spent this morning “winterizing” the K0 Show Bike........ how depressing! Trees are changing colour and all over the roads here. Rain for the next 4 days. The K0 won the Cobble Beach Concours Bike award a few weeks ago, but since I don’t have it plated or insured, not much else do do. After getting it running really smoothly (final carb sync’) pulled the bowls, dropped floats and jets, dried and blew it all out. Reassembled and then lubed the cylinders. Plan to give it a bit of a polish and then wrap it up, at the back of the shop. It will join the K8,7 and 6 that haven’t been on the road for a while.

Hardly rode the K4 at all this year, planning a 300 mile loop on Friday. Not many riding days left here. Where does the time go!

Spent two hours getting the seat to locate properly on my K0! I’ve only ridden this bike a couple of miles, but it spent 8 hours in the trailer and 500+ miles, going to the Cobble Beach Concours. The seat was too tight to the tank in the LF corner. It marked the paint and started rubbing through the cover in that short time....
Discovered the latch was forcing the seat forward and too tight, when engaged. Slotted the seat hinge brackets to move the seat back further and did the same with the latch. Once it was all in place, tweaked the front hinge with a long pry bar to move the centre line a bit to the left. Pain in the butt, but worth the effort. All clear!

I put the chain back on the bike.  Kick started it.  It hit first time.  Rode bike around back yard 3-4 laps.  First time its moved under it's own power in 4+ years.  I was a happy camper.

Rebuilt an extra set of carbs I had laying around. Trying to solve a very lean #4 cylinder (76 CB550F). New rack of carbs and same results on #4. Moving onto coils and tappet clearances.

I added a Gl1000 headlight to my bike. It was a direct fit. Being a replaceable H4 bulb will allow me to install a H4 LED bulb in the future.

If the engine will not run for a very long time and the storage might have higher humidity, different temperatures. I should spray a thin layer of oil in combustion chambers covering the valves and seats.

The seats in my K6 were pitted after 20 years, new cut of the seats needed. The bores however had no rust, only seats and some valves.

Danny, that looks similar to the cone engineering muffler I bought. The muffler sounds great but it doesn’t come with a slot at the input side of the muffler. I haven’t had much luck clamping/tightening the muffler to the pipe collector.  Do you have the same setup? And if so, how did you handle?

Thanks RAF you are right.  Guess that what I get for working from phone with no glasses.  Anyways, I got mine mounted.  Once I got the gasket in place  and installed bolts in bracket, it held securely.  The clamp helps but doesn't secure the muffler alone. Well not on mine anyways
