Hey Eric! I'm ahead of you! I contacted Sean a while back when I picked this up.  I'll definitely keep him in the loop.

Jake, I'll post more on the K0 in a little while. Waiting for it to be delivered.  But a really nice survivor and I'm pretty stoked about it.

Put a Cycle X muffler on CB550f. Now what do I need to do to carbs? Any input appreciated. Stock air box. If jetting needed I will put on air pods. Thanks

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

The muffler alone should not require any change in the jetting.
Thanks for the info. As far as mounting You are right Ace Blackwell I had to shim the muffler to fit. It’s now super tight sounds sweet!

Well with 8 or 9 Honda's around my place, I decided that there was enough room for another Harley. I bought this 1973 "non-runner" XLH1000 barn find last Friday from my hospital bed, and picked it up yesterday. Should be fun getting it running again, just in time for some nice riding weather. ;D

I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

Thanks Eric, just a bit more stomach surgery mate, I guess you could call it "warranty work"? Anyway, I woke up from the general anesthetic and was feeling pretty awful, the food was bad, my "neighbours" were annoyingly loud. I flicked on my cell phone, and the first thing I saw was that old Sportster. I contacted the seller who called me right back, we had a chat and I sent him a deposit.

I felt so much better Eric, motorcycles really do make you happy! Last night he dropped it off at my place and the first thing I did was give it a wash, and it came up pretty well. He took it off the road in May last year due to that starter issue, and bought a Fat Boy. I was surprised that the battery is still holding a charge, so tomorrow I'll get the spanners out and see what's up with the starter. Hopefully the weather will be kind. ;D

Today, I started mine up and ran it around the neighborhood instead of the back yard alone. It's been 3-4 years since it's been able to run well enough to at least test on the road.   I let it set until it idled with choke off but it was still popping and cracking on occasion.  Noticed wet soot at the end of the muffler thought there was very little smoke if any.  The soot didn't surprise me much, I haven't gotten the carbs tuned in just yet.   In any case I ran down the street.  It hesitated and felt like it could die at any min.  It was disheartening.  I had to keep clutching and giving gas to keep moving.  It finally died so I pushed back up the road as I don't have a battery on it yet.  I then jumped it again and took off for another trip.  Just for giggles, I full choked it and it ran like a champ.  No hesitation no popping and cracking. Had some get up and go to it as well. (well up to 40mph lol)  Was fun.  I put about 4 miles on it going around our 2-3 block neighborhood.  At this point the bike doesn't have a head light, turn signals, license plate (current or expired) so I figured it wasn't smart to press my luck.

I read a thread in here once about a bike only running well with choke on, but I can't find it.  Does anyone know what the need for full choke on a warm bike would indicate?  Thanks

Picked up my Vstrom 650XT from dealer, 600 mile service completed, and rode it home.
MC collection is loaded on moving truck Monday and I will be in TUCSON Saturday evening if things go according to plan. Should be nice to be riding in AZ again soon...looking forward to it.

Good job David, so you're moving house? Those Vstrom's are great bikes, I almost bought one a year or so ago but I had the BMW R1100GS back then, (before I stupidly sold it) so didn't take up the sellers offer. Now I'd like a nice light "commuter" for my daily city run, I might have to think about another one.

I'm slowly getting my "Swamp Rat" K2 closer to completion.
