First day on the road.  57.7 miles in 100 degree heat.

And I was like this the entire time:  ;D
'75 550F - Resto/mod - Riding - But never really finished...
'76 550K - Cafe build - On hold
'78 550K - Parts - Good engine for another day
'73 500 - Parts - Engine seized
'90 CB-1 - No longer seized! but still title-less

I went for a 40 mile ride with the heat index at 110.  I thought it would be cooler at 60 to 70 but it just felt like somebody had a blow dryer in my face.

Dropped off my front wheel at the shop yesterday to get balanced. Notice Godffreys great work on another rotor. Anyways while trying to remove the front end on my bike I noticed this! Tire has less then 200 miles on it and I know it was not there when I dropped off. If you look closely the shop put 2 oz weights directly across from one another. I questioned this when I picked it up. How can one balance a tire if the exact same weight is on both sides directly across from one another? Also is this really possible to achieve when balance a tire? I will give them a call in the morning.

Finally found the sweet spot on the brake adjustment, no squeak when riding, and not even when stopping! YES! So, I went for a 15 mile ride. It was this bike's first trip to a gas station with me, then the beach, then dinner at a restaurant. I couldn't believe how many people stopped me to talk bikes in that short ride!

Now I just need to figure out why the idle climbs as the engine heats up. After just 10 minutes the idle climbs to around 3500 RPM. I have to slip the clutch a bit at the lights to bring it down, which I know is not a good thing to do.

I bought it from Andy (736cc), and yes it's for the turbo ;D I have to drill two new mounting holes, and fill the old ones.  I'm going to ask to see a real one for a 500/550 before I do that, just to see if there's a significant difference.

Found the oil leak.  An oil pan bolt was loose - odd!  Battery was low so I kicked her over.  Took a lot of kicks but she started and ran fine.

Mark - are you setting the idle when the motor is fully warmed up?

And no air leaks?  They may appears as she warms up versus idle.

I am just learning to work on these bikes, so I had a shop do the work, one that employes a 22 year veteran Honda mechanic after his stint at the dealership.  :D
He fixed so much wrong stuff on my bike in just 3 days, he really does know what he's doing. So Im leaning toward the air leak as it warms up as being the most likely. I'm going to get a can of carb cleaner after work tomorrow to spray around after it warms up. If there's idle change, I've found it. :)

Mark - are you setting the idle when the motor is fully warmed up?

That's my most likely cause. Checking that out tomorrow after work. :)

Carburetor cleaner, not starting fluid. I've used this on hot rods for decades without a single fire. Just gotta be careful. :)

over the weekend I wrapped and hung kerker 4 into 1 (small internal baffle)
As a starting point, PD42b's were set  - Fuel mix screw 1.5 turns out, 35/120 jets, 1mm needle shim. Stock airbox/filter.
vacuum sync this afternoon and a test run to see if more carb tuning is needed.
'78 750K (F3 engine) PD42b's, Modified airbox w/K&N  filter, 40/110 jets, 1 needle shim, IMS@ 1 turn out. Kerker + Cone 18" QuietCore

Got the chain, after waiting a month, waiting on sprockets and swing arm bushings.

Hopefully have it all this week and have it back on the road by the weekend.

I brought this little 125 from a pile of parts to a whole bike in about 2 weeks. Only to find out it has low compression :(

Redid my front end. Swapped out the rim and tire. Brought the tire to the shop where I KNOW they cut the tire. They said they didnt. They also said they would take blame for it if they mounted it but there is no way to tell. They also said the wheel is good. That the cuts should wear down and since tube tire not much to worry. After bout 15 miles of riding the cut looks bigger. Is this tire shot?
