Now, are those 35mm fork tubes? If they are, I have several sets of tubes around here, even some 34mm that aren't in good shape from an early XS650. I could try this!

G'Day Charlie, yeah mate, 35mm forks tubes from K2-K6 forks. No idea if they got thinner as they evolved. You've probably got access to hundreds of sets of old forks mate, do you have access to a dropsaw too? ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

Ha ha, yeah, I just used my Dewalt hand held band saw Charlie, but I had to trim them square on my lathe. If someone wanted to make some a drop saw would make a much nicer straight cut than my band saw. I got a Dewalt cordless 5 inch angle grinder for my recent birthday and I'll get some super thin cut off wheels to cut the frame on my K2. ;D

Finished installing the exhaust system I started last Saturday. It was a bargain, but as is common with bargains, it wasn't all there. I had to order a new mounting kit from Delkevic, but they came through for me and sold me the parts for $25. I also put on the new master cylinder, a shiny new points cover, and a few other bits and bobs. Took her for a short spin just to earn up the engine before I put her back in the barn. The new exhaust sounds so sweet!

Got an hour or 2 between Easter breakfast, dinner and movie with family..... Wheel job has moved into the living room :o ;D without any protests ::)
Garage too crowded with stuff and dirt after hub grinding.
Continued with the rear wheel I laced yesterday. Today trued it and tightened all spokes. Total run-out sideways as well as up-down are within 0,5 mm seen on a dial indicator which is OK for me. There is a bump where rim is welded as always, neglect that and see the rim run-out possible to correct by tighten spokes correctly. Might be a thing to recheck and correct when changing tire.

Tire on 50%, tube to creep inside tomorrow.

Nothing as cool as what Terry did.  Today I put my gauges back on after a rebuild.   I painted the gauge faces red then applied a decal for the numbers.

Bloo got an italian tune up and a fuzzy cozy critter seat cover.
I had almost forgotten how timid a (mostly stock) cb550 felt.
Especially after riding 200hp race machines :/

Got it up on the lift, pulled the carbs, installed a new ignition switch and seat lock. I have power to the lights, but the starter switch does nothing but dim the lights little.  Shorting across the solenoid turns it over. Carbs are nice and clean, main jets are 125s rather than 105. Slows are the stock 40, but they are completely blocked.

Turkey, that is an awesome job.  Looks factory made. I especially like the Allen bolt crimp ring.  Is that you own design or did you find it online somewhere?

Thanks!  The rings are from Joker Machine. So much easier than the stock crimpers

I'm thinking about cutting a slot into each one to allow them to pull down further against the support rails, but surprisingly, once moderately tightened there was absolutely no slop at all, so the jury is still out.
Cut the slot, Terry. ;)

Danny, the switch should shut off the headlight while pushed. My bet is the inner plastic housing is toast. Time for a new switch or the 3D printed housing if still available.

I got the new tail/stop/turn signal light installed, along with a couple license plate lights disguised as bolts... I kinda like the chevron style!

Danny does your battery have a nice full charge and its in good working order. I had to buy a new one this spring while working on my F0 and of course then it had enough juice to get things spinning.

Yes, the battery is fine. It doesn't actually have a headlight in it right now, so that isn't an issue. I need to open up the switch and take a look, it may need one of those 3D printed replacement housings that I installed in my 550. I'll know more later this week when I take a look.
