My friend Larry brings a different bike each week.  Last night he brought the Shovel Digger with 70s original Perowidz paint job, he had it at a local shop around the corner being worked on, he and the shop owner said it was a handful as that front end flops over too easy with the slightest turn of the bars.
He also brought one of his Indians too.

It's a beautiful bike. It seems like unless you have a lot of "up" in your frame as well you end up with chopper flop. I was always told it's just the way it is if you want to ride choppers.

Especially in mid October as of what's around the bend in time here.... it was a balmy 56° riding back to the shop at 7:30. In a month we can see in the 20s and lower...... :'(

I am so light I get that rigid bike feeling every time I ride someone else's bike.

Right now I am having trouble getting the KZ 1000 to not ride like a rigid bike. I've replaced the shocks with a set of Progressive series 12 and I've replaced the springs with the lightest ones that fit they sell for them. It's better now but the rear end still skips around some when I'm riding it hard. I'm going to pull 10cc's of oil out of each fork tube to see if it softens up the front end a bit. Sometimes it sucks only weighing 125lbs, right up until I go WOT.

I get that fully Kelly. I've always been around 130/135 in good shape so everything is stuff to me.

Actually up till recently I've gained so e weight, about 150 now. The forklifts at work safety brake would activate when I hit a bump bc I couldn't hold it down all the way.

Yep I rode a “Big twin” that had been raked and had 6 foot long forks on it, and couldn’t get off it fast enough! It was like driving a Semi with flat front tyres. Looked nice though.

i'm looking forward to getting a  750 digger frame and a whole bike for parts off a friend i sold them to years ago, as far as we know the frame was built by Sonic choppers here in Melbourne probably in the 70s and looks like its never been used. it also comes with a 5 foot front springer front end which will probably need cutting down as it'll be too long for the frame and i prefer shorter front ends on diggers. gotta finish the dirt bike 750 first but i'm looking forward to getting into it

Made a chain guard this morning with 1/8" aluminum, vapor blast finish

I went for a ride today. It was a little chilly but sunny and the Fall colours are out here in Ontario. Bike ran great but I noticed that when twisting the throttle while passing cars, the bike kind of bogged slightly. I've read that these motors love to rev, but minenot so much. It runs great to about 4500rpm then it sounds a bit like when I first start it on choke and try to rev it.

When I got home I decided to switch the 120 main jets to a set of 105 jets I have. I was able to do this with the carbs still on the bike so the switch over took maybe 15 minutes. When I took the bike for a ride to see, I was very happy to note that the bike did like to rev higher without the bogging!

I have stock airbox and filter, and an RC (Russ Collins) 4into1 exhaust on my 1974 cb750, with 23,000 miles, that I got this summer, not running and stored for 30 years.

That looks fantastic mate, excellent fabrication skills! I have to fab up a plenum for my turbocharged Triumph project, and will need to teach myself how to use my shiny new AC/DC TIG welder to do both the aluminium and steel parts. You get an enormous sense of self satisfaction when you build something that comes out so nicely!

I spent the day at Spotty’s place working on my bikes. My “New to me” Rocket III that I bought last week needs a little work to get it back to Roadworthy condition, so first we removed the horrible “Zard” ($4K AUD) “Leg burner” exhaust that I’ve sold to a cop in Western Australia for $1900 who really wanted it, I’m hoping he’s wearing asbestos chaps when he rides his bike once he’s installed it, the pipe makes good horsepower and torque, but it’s otherwise horrible.

We also removed the chrome Jardine pipe from my red bike that’s about to get the turbo treatment, and removed both rear wheels so I could swap tyres and brakes. Both wheels were filthy so I brought over some “spray on/hose off” wheel cleaner that tool a lot of application and scrubbing with a 3M pad to remove the bulk of the grime, and Spotty pressure washed them, ending in a very nice result. The black bikes rear caliper had only the pads backing plate left, and the disc was ruined, so we used the disc and pads from the red bike, which were still good. I’ll order a new disc and hopefully there’s a brand new set of pads in one of the boxes of parts in Spotty’s garage.

We installed the chrome Jardine pipe on the black bike and fired it up, and it looked and sounded really nice. We’ll have to eventually install my stock pipe on the black bike to pass it’s Roadworthy Inspection, but we had to see how good it looked on the black bike and were stoked.

I took my stock header over with the IHI turbocharger to see if it will fit where I want to put it, and once done fitted it to the red bike with just the old “Fishtail” muffler I’d put on my first Rocket back in ‘09, I still love how easy it is to install with only one “ muffler” that doesn’t really muffle much.

By around 4pm we were both in pain, Spotty’s ankle was killing him, as was my back, so we packed up until next Saturday when we’ll swap out the front wheels after mucho cleaning. We got a lot done, so I think we were both pretty happy.

I'm not too happy about this pic though, Spotty took a pic of me on the black bike, but somehow this wrinkly old baastard somehow got on my bike and took a selfie, and deleted Spotty's pic of my youthful beauty. I've seen that old tramp hanging around my place, usually when I look in the mirror. I guess I should be happy, riding and owning bikes for 54 years without a break, but I do look better with my full face helmet on.

I found out that my tachometer is more or less accurate, but that my fuel lines are routed completely wrong.
I also discovered an odd droning when riding at 5500rpm, which is mildly hypnotic, but sort of wonder what it is.
Other than that, the riding part was awesome. Good, chilly, damp Washington weather. lol

Yes, it was actually.
I took a bit too much time researching chain oil when it was already overdue. The PJ1 chain lube I ordered came in the mail yesterday, so today I went for a quick ride, got the chain a bit warm and put some lube on it.
