Also for setting up I've got a pair of shock extenders, clever design that can't move . They're 5cm ( 2" ), the shocks were a swapmeet special last weekend $10, don't know how rooted ( Aussie for unserviceable ) they are yet but ok for setting up

Well I got me another bike (yesterday). While I was waiting for the burger I had order at my favorite burger joint (PaPa Joe's), I was perusing the local Craigslist ads and first up was a 76 750, just posted in the parts section. For $100 20 miles from me. So I sent off a text reply, I'll take the 750. He replies back, "cash". OK I'll bite, send me the address and when is good to get it.(I didn't have work pressing so I just had to borrow a friend's ramp and tools so I could get it into the minivan). He replied back he was there and come on down. He wanted it gone out of the yard.
Well it was a legit ad and he was great guy, 2nd owner. I may have even assembled this bike from the crate back in 76, on one of our late night setup parties that were mandatory stay after my 12 hour day in the parts room...... it came with the original owners title dated 6/15/1976.
I had the local LEO come by and run the vin when I got home and it came back clear, last registered in 2008 by the guy(Kerry) I bought it from. I had him run the 78K I bought last year while he was here too and it was good too. So I can register them and get titles. So another win win!
Kerry said that is sat in his garage for some years and the rear fender was broken while setting but didn't know how. He said his son wanted it but never picked it up with the excuse of no place to keep it and didn't want to get a storage unit so Kerry decided to just list it to get it out of his garage. He bought it from his neighbor(original owner)and that it had sat in his neighbor's garage after he hit a car with it, the bike fared well but apparently the owner didn't fare so well so he parked it. Kerry said he rebuilt the carbs and bought a new aftermarket tank for it(rattlecan paint) and rode it a few years then it sat in his garage. So this one is added to the other two 76 projects to get going, this one has good promises I think?? 11,000 miles and kicks over.

Great buy for a hundred bucks. You were in the right place at the right time looking through CL as that would not have lasted long. Always check the "parts for sale" section as some guys will use that to dodge the $5.00 listing fee.

Awesome deal Stu.  In south Texas they would be asking $2k-3k for this.

Aluminum spigot? Is that in the picture? (I see the brake light switch and bracket.)

What bike is this on?

The spigot is at the bottom of the switch wire, bolted to the Tarozzi brake lever
It’s my 750F1 project bike.  I’m probably one of the few people that changed the rear disc brake back to drum brake with cable operation 😄

Is this what you are calling a spigot??

The only thing I've ever known as a spigot is a valve to control flow

I was thinking a 'roll pin' might have a similar name;the type that fit between a shaft, etc.

After sitting under a cover for a year I pulled my Kawasaki Z1-B out for a look. The clutch had glued itself together and the general advice from the experts on the Z1 forums was to pull the clutch in and kick over the engine until it frees up. With 12.5:1 1100cc race pistons that was too hard for my old legs, so yesterday I disassembled the clutch and pulled the plates. They were stuck so hard I had to use a flat bladed screwdriver to pry them apart.

They all looked good though so I separated them, cleaned all the steels on the wire wheel, then oiled them all, and the throwout bearing and reassembled it. I’d previously drained the old fuel and drained the RS34 carbs, and being a new tank nothing nasty came out, so I dumped a couple of gallons of 98 RON fuel in it, reconnected the freshly charged battery and hit the button.

It fired up immediately and settled into a happy idle after a minute or two. I pulled in the clutch and it snicked into gear, so I took it for a quick lap around the streets (it’s not registered yet) and the only issue now is that the blinkers aren’t working. Still I’m pretty happy that it’s running so well. ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

"Crazy is a very misunderstood term, it's a fine line that some of us can lean over and still keep our balance" (thanks RB550Four)

I spent the day on the shake down ride on my rebuilt 750K6.  78 miles. A successful day. Only very minor things went on my list and the improved peppiness from a properly timed head with no oil leaks was very clear and enjoyable.

I'd replaced a bent fork stanchion and both rear shocks. The better ride was also very obvious.

It's been a good day. 👍

Spotty and I had a great day cleaning and reassembling my 1969 Yamaha SD6 250 2 stroke twin yesterday. The rusty rims and corroded aluminium came up like new with a spray of phosphoric acid and a scrub with a stainless steel wool pad, it really made a huge difference.

The bike had been completely disassembled so by the time I arrived at Spotty’s place he’d sorted all the parts out and we were able to install the centre and side stands, and the engine and forks before we called it a day.

Sadly a few parts were missing so Spotty made me a shopping list of parts to try to find. As the Yam and my old Suzuki and Kawasaki 2 stroke bikes are all around the same vintage I’m hoping that I’ll find most of them today but will probably have to fabricate some bits too. We’re going to crack on with it tonight and hopefully get the handle bars, wheels and fenders etc on it so at least we can wheel it around.

It came without carbs so I’ve ordered some cheap Pwk 26mm carbs from EBay that will hopefully arrive next week as it’ll be good to have it running for when we take it to the next swap meet and it’ll be easier to sell if I can start it for potential buyers. (Plus I want to take it for a ride) It’ll be nice to see it in one piece, it was a “one year only” model so I’m happy that it’s almost complete. ;D
