the site says they come with screens, so would these be safe enough to run on a near daily driver?? or should i stick with looking for some pods?

i had an idea that if you could attach a filter material to the outside of the screen it would help out a lot more for filtration and wouldn't get sucked into the engine...

Yes, you need to find the way to use a thin oily foam for daily drive or find some stacks screens

I've run stacks on daily riders with nothing more than grasshopper-stoppers, never really had an issue. Not to say that issues weren't a possibility, just never had any.

Screens are prolly smart

In my opinion, it depends on what you’re trying to gain. If it’s performance, then your stack really needs to have a fully radiused edge, and deff no screen, grid or bits of foam messing up the flow. But if its for show, then any will do.
Best compromise for filtration would prob be a foam 'sock' type.

Yes they look good I'll post some photos when I receive them.

Mike Mentges was the man who process my order fast he ship them the same day I paid for.
stacks are $62.00 plus shipping looks like a good deal to me.

What about just cutting some foam out of another aircleaner and putting it inside the stack to use as a filter?

That would defeat the functional reason for velocity stacks, which is to boost the amount of air being drawn into the carb. Put too much (ie any) restriction or turbulence into them and they become nothing more than poorly tuned cosmetic addons.

Here's a thread from the for sale section (imagine that?) with more pics and info. Pics in there are of the set I got for the 77-78K carbs. They fit great, no problems.

Putting any sort of fillter on them other than a mesh screen defeats the object of having them on in the first place.
It's allready been said a few posts back by Mystic_1 You either have carbs with stacks (maximum flow) carbs with pods (slightly restricted flow) or carbs with filters (stock restricted flow), there's no in between, end of story.

As I suggested a few back, a foam sock is a good compromise when it comes to filtering rampipes. In my experience better than a 'pod'.

But agree that the best for max flow is 'open'.
You say there is no in between, and I know what you mean, but the optimum for a filtered induction has to be the airbox and remote filter.

Yeah neat isn't it.
I found it when Googling airbox or something. It's a Huyabusa installation for kit car use (Westfield/Caterham).

I've just got a new set of CRs for my K7 project, and I'm considering the alternatives!
