As you know, Free Booter nominated your bike for BOTM.  How almost there are you?  Is it complete enough for BOTM?  We can always wait a month or two to re-nominate if needed.  tintop did that for about three months before he accepted.
I don't have a motorcycle, sold it ('85 Yamaha Venture Royale).  Haven't had a CB750 for over 40 years.

Awesome!  I'm humbled to be in such fantastic company  ;D

Tipper - I should be 100% within the next week or 10 days.  The weather is pushing me to get her knocked out so I can enjoy it!

Just nominated your 750 for Bike of the Month so hurrry up and get it rolling again.

Thank you, my friend!!  As if I wasn't motivated before, now I need to work double time.  No worries - I can't wait to get her back on the road.  She'll always be my favorite (just don't tell my other project's  ;) )

I might be interested in a couple of those oil tanks sir.

Good to know!  If and when I get some fabbed up, I'll post 'em up here for the taking.  I'd like to so a few as a trial run to see if I can get this idea to work just the way I'd like.

Does anyone in Houston have a CB750 with all the stock brackets and widgets still attached?  I could use a good look at that to know where I'd have to negotiate around existing "stuff".  ;D

Well, you could always refer to that pic of the frame diagram someone posted up...Or I could send you some pics?

Great suggestion!!  That will work as a surrogate until a real-life model can be found.  I ditched all my brackets and widgets, so mocking it up on mine will only get me so much.

Alrighty . . . .  finally some progress updates.  I've been working hard to get all my ducks in a row for some upcoming events.  The Texas leg of the SOHC/4 World Tour comes through my area next month and this coming weekend is the Rockers vs Mods Dallas meet that I'm heading north to attend.

So, here goes . . . . .

Shaved tank badge recesses and a few dings needed some attention.

Body work isn't my mostest favoritest thing.

Yep.  It's back.

I've missed my old girl.  It'll be nice to have her back in action.  Some general maintenance items and she should be good to go.  And just in time for the Texas leg of the SOHC/4 rally!

Same paint as before, but this time with real-deal automotive clear coat - 4 coats.  Some wet sanding, polishing, buffing, waxing and presto!

With the better clear coat, this tank has a good bit more shine than the last one.

The bike in the background is a 1983-is Magna.  I'm guiding a friend through hard-tailing it.  It's shaft drive, so it's a little "different" to figure out.  Pretty much your typical rat bike with a rattle-can flat black tank.  But now that my 750 is back in action, I can finally start on one of my CB350 twins . . . .

You got it!  My paint is all rattle can.  With the proper prep and care with each step (wetsanding, etc) it comes out nice.  And the good clear coat will keep it safe from gas, unlike my previous tank.  I used a rattle can clear coat on it, and the first time gas spilled on it, it instantly attacked the clear.  There really is no replacement for good 2-part clear.

Awesome!!!  Thanks a million, buddy!  I'll get your bracket in the mail this week.  I just need to shoot paint, and I'll let you know when it ships.

looks like the fender should be there friday!

That Aircraft Remover is some serious stuff!  I haven't found gloves yet that it won't eventually eat through.  This time, I even tried the super-thick, elbow-long, heavy-duty latex gloves with the flocked (fluffy) interior.  Yep, it ate through those.  I guess the key is to avoid touching the stuff if at all possible.  Regular latex and nitrile gloves don't stand a chance.  Inevidibly, a speck of it gets on your skin and burns like mad, too.  It smells pretty strong, too.  You have to keep it in a metal or glass container, as it would simply eat through a plastic one.

Once it starts to break down the paint, it just becomes this goo.  If you leave it sitting, say overnight, the solvent in it evaporates out and you end up with dry, broken-down paint.  It did eat the polyurethane clear coat off my work bench after soaking through the cardboard I laid down.  Crazy stuff, indeed, but it works like nothing else.  And I highly recommend the liquid stuff in the can.  I tried the spray-can version and it was too weak.
