Wonder what Honda "sunrise orange flake" would look like on Little Dragon? Naturally a crimson red dragon small dragon snorting puffs of smoke might have to appear peaking out somewhere on the bike?
Orange is an appropriate color for a bike with the name "Little Dragon".

Naturally, it would have to be something your sister would like...

Saw someone's bike on one of the threads here where they changed the skull and flames on their tank to a stylized horse made of flames in while flames licking making the horse figure. It was cool looking.  (Flat black tank and white flame horse in gallop...)

Is the guy coughing up the dough out of his pocket avoiding a claim or the insurance company? Sounds like the former.

How bad did the motor's head(s) get chewed up?

Thanks!

everything, lol... I just find some of that stuff cliche to what people default to as being "bad ass" mostly because most people just follow what is popular. I find people who don't know anything about  bikes like the blinkers I choose or the color where as people who know like things like the tank detail, rearsets, clip ons and the likes. I don't know if anyone else has noted this.

The guy who ran over Little Dragon want to keep his insurance out of it which is better for both of us, but man is he slow to pay. I can't even touch the bike until there is money in my account just to be safe in case I do need to use his insurance. That is the frustrating part for me. I am a fixer and I have to look at a damaged motorcycle sitting there every day at the shop.

Well it looks like we are going to have to use his insurance. Now begins the fight to keep the bike from the insurance company and still have a little left over in the end. Arg, what a douche. The guy stopped answering my sisters calls and never paid. So now the nightmare begins. Oh well though at this point I just want to get the bike on the road again.

no need for a police  report. He provided his insurance info and it all happened on private property. I was told the adjuster is coming to look at the bike tomorrow so I am going to try and convince him more money needs to come our way then just the value of a stock bike, because the modifications where done more to make the bike fit my sister who is 5' 2". Which is actually true but the amount may be viewed differently, and thus the tug a war begins.

I was more worried about the jerk saying "what accident" and there being no proof.  Most places erase their camera tapes pretty frequently.  Paper pushers thrive on reports.  Good luck man.

well it worked out well that the accident happened at a place both my sister and I used to work at. So not only did we see the footage and get the exact time and camera, she also knew the employee who saw the hole thing happen.

The guy responsible stopped answering my sisters calls but did talk to the insurance company and said it was all him, yeah any time you hit something not moving it is only your fault. Actually, "hit" might be too nice. Maybe "flatten" would be more accurate.

Hey man I'm so sorry to hear of the upset.  I followed your builds closely.

My sis was recently hit hard on her Vespa and needed major reparations both medical and mechanical.  Like Old75 said, these insurance guys love paper trails.  My sister sought a lawyer and gave us great "tips" for getting maximum monetary returns: photograph everything, especially one-off parts; take photos to a reputable mechanic and ask him to appraise your bike with mods; find out their insurance limits, and your limits (especially comprehensive and uninsured/under-insured limits); create a diary of how upset and depressed you are and ask your sis to do the same (write in it often and it can be a gold mine!); in the event your bike is totaled, fight to get a fair value for it, then buy it back before it goes to auction, however, it may need a salvage or worse, a parts-only title.  If after you've maxed out the insurance payouts and you still fell wronged, write the guy and tell him you'll sue him personally until your victimization is completely paid for.  If he ignores you, find a lawyer and pursue arbitration or settlement.  That's all I can think of now.

So sorry you have to look at a flattened bike...Good Luck

Back to Little Horse

Well I was loosing a lot of oil recently and wasn't sure where it was going. Not many drips on the floor no real evidence of it burning out the pipe. The other day though there was a small puddle under my bike even though it hadn't been ridden confirming I had a leak somewhere below the oil level. I looked to be coming from behind the counter shaft sprocket cover and clutch operating mechanism. I figured it was the seal on the shift shaft but I ended up taking the cover off to investigate and was surprise by a tidal wave of oil that had collected in there. Turns out it was the seal I thought so now I need to order a new one. I guess the old one was just too hard to seal anymore. The nice thing about old honda's is they may still leak oil but unlike other old bikes they don't have to.

On another note I am considering retro fitting a hydraulic clutch mechanism to replace the cable mechanism since the pull is ridiculous on my cb500. I was wondering if this is trademark character of the bike or if I should look into the cause? It seems to shift fine its just a very hard pull enough so my sister could never ride the bike or anyone with even the slightest arthritis.

My sister is still struggling with the insurance company over her bike. Its a long story but the summary is that they told her the custom work for her height and for style compromises the value of the bike, saying it was lower because of the work done and far less marketable. Which is wrong, now it fits short people and tall people and is kicks ass. Anyways the other end of the story is they want $700 for her to buy the bike back once it is all said and done she would leave with a bike with a salvage title and only about a thousand dollars to try and fix $2400 or so in damage. They say its devalued but still charge absolutely premium dollar for a wrecked bike. I can get two clean titled cx 500's for $700 its outrageous. So she is consulting a lawyer right now so hopefully all this will be settled. I want to get working on this thing.

Insurance is great until you try to collect.  It really, really sucks.  Someday when mine is good to go, I will get someone to appraise the bike and get the company to insure based on that (which my company said that they would do.)

Still, major bummer, dude.

(Still curious about pictures of the carnage.)

bad news I crashed on saturday

I crashed my Superhawk. I low sided it somehow, it didn't seem like I was going that fast. I slipped on something - but the details are a little hazy I don't really remember that much of the accident. I got hurt from being flung into a ditch. They did a CAT scan when I arrived at the hospital and they found a burst fracture on my T-6 and another tilted disk. I am going in for surgery tomorrow to put some pins in and move the tilted disk back.

My buddies towed the bike to my shop, but no one has looked at the damages real closely yet.
