Anyone ever hear of this guy?
« on: February 18, 2010, 06:15:47 AM »
If anyone has read any of my past posts, you know that I have a '78 Honda CB550 that I need a title for. This guy on ebay says he can get a title for anything, and I was wondering if anyone has ever used him. He charges $125, and says this is what he needs: Picture of the vin#, picture of the bike, year, make, model, miles, #of cylinders, the name you want on the title or (He can do his name and then sign it over to me), short description of how I got the bike, and why no title. He says that I will receive a Utah title that you take to the dmv when you want to register the bike and they will issue me a new title from my state (IL). His name is impala66k. Anyone ever heard of this (it just sounds too easy)?

Never heard if him.  What is his eBay feedback record looking like?
Can I have a motorcycle when I get old enough?
If you take care of it.
What do you have to do?
Lot’s of things. You’ve been watching me.
Will you show me all of them?
Sure.
Is it hard?
Not if you have the right attitudes. It’s having the right attitudes that’s hard.

Check these places for help too.  They do the same thing that guy is talking about.

http://www.its-titles.com/

http://www.broadwaytitle.com/?gclid=CIH79_iM_J8CFWEO5QodyXJ2mQ

Both of them will research your bike and get you a new title.

I don't know about IL but in WI I'm pretty sure they won't accept anything like that. We're pretty strict about all of that crap. Sounds pretty damn risky to me.

If what you end up with is a clear Utah title, are you saying that WI wouldn't accept that?

I'd like to know as well, then I'd like to know if he can do anything for the Nazi State of Ohio when it come to obtaining a title.

I used its- titles a few years ago.  Good, but I think there is a cut off year of the bike.  About 1981 or earlier is doable.

Check it out.

Title information in IL goes back 10 years. Then it get's removed. That is provided that the vehicle has not been licensed in the last 10 years, nor has the exisiting title been transferred or had a lein placed upon it.

If you fit into these categories..... prepare for the state if IL to break out the burning lube and try to stick it as far in as it will go.

If you don't have any of these problems.... prepare for the state if IL to climb into your wallet and bleed you dry.

My bike had a Min Title that was signed. I had no problem registering it in my name, here in Wi.

But was it dated?

WI and IL both don't look kindly on post dated titles.

Bike hadn't been registered in 4 years before I got it, but that was just my situation.

Sounds kind of along the same lines as ITS.  Let me know how it works out.

*edit*  Just got an email from the guy.  Yeah, what CJ said.  I guess you provide the information and in about 3-4 weeks you get a title.  He emails a picture of the title, then sends a paypal invoice.  Once you pay the invoice, he mails the title.  Sounds like no risk to me.

*edit*  Ran across one of his ads while looking for CL175 stuff...

Michigan is the same way, if its not been registered here, and it not stolen, I can get a new title for 16 bucks, the cost of a transfer.
