Pics of my latest build project CB350RR
« on: December 28, 2005, 08:51:04 PM »
This is a 1970 CB350 twin that will have a GSXR750 inverted frontend with a FZR600 rear wheel......front & rear disc brakes!!

Well....got the frame and parts back from the powder coater and decided to drop the motor into it tonight and check the alignment of my carbs with the new custom alloy intakes. The frame looks silver in the pics, but is a new aluminum type powder coat...which gives the appearance of the old nickel finish on the old british bikes....heres a few pics:

There are more pics and info on the build, at my website.
Later,
Greg

Greg,
I have got to tell you that your bikes and the ideas along with the craftsmanship that has gone into them is definately a credit to you. I was in Japan in the Air Force w/ my CB72 Hawk when the 350s came out. At 1st, I wan't that impressed. I mean, to me, the CB72s,77's and the 450 was it. As time went on I started to appreciate them more. I had an SL350 quite awhile back and it gave me a whole new outlook. Then, you came along. I don't have any 350s now but, I do have several CB450s. As time and money permits, I hope to build a 450 with some of your ideas, if you don't mind. My problem is, I have several "project bikes" and not much time and not nearly enough money. If my want to could substitute for money, I' be in HONDA (not Hog) Heaven! Keep up the great work and I'll be watching your progress with great interest. And I knew I'd seen those 3pc clamps from Dennis Kirk somewhere, shoulda known it was from you.         I'm gone, Bill

Bill....Thanks for the kind words!! Appreciate it man!!

Sounds like you have a perfect bike for a nice street legal racer build......that CB450. Once this CB350RR is finished and the CB500/4 is done....my next project will be a 1972 CL450. I picked it up at Vintage Days @ Mid-Ohio last year for $60.00(whole bike). The motor is froze, but all the parts I need for a build are there.......really cant wait to dig into it.

Gotta run,
Greg

Greg,

The attention to detail is outstanding. I only hope that I can keep I can hang in there long enough to put out a completed bike that looks anywhere near as good as yours or others that I've seen recently. This site has to have some of the most talented guys on it. I'm finding myself anxious to see yours and several others completed. I hope no one gets offended but, I've been looking at some of you guys projects in hopes of blending my ideas, yours and others ideas into my projects. I want them to be different but, not gawdy or anything like that. I'm also looking forward to the CL450 project that you are going to do. Later on, Bill

 My recent project http://www.sohc4.us/forums/index.php?topic=4489.15
is a stock build, but I love what you are doing. Not sure my wifes 1st ride should be a low profile cafe ;D

Question: When they cooked my frame and swing arm before powder coating I lost the shock bushings in the swing arm.
Where would a guy locate a new set to push back in? What are you doing?

I will keep watching your progress, I hope to be finished in March.

SeaWeb...

I pressed my old swingarm shock bushing out, before I sent it out for powder coating......they were junk anyways. Looks like your gonna need to press out the remainder of the bushing that is still in there.

I will be ordering some new ones for my bike soon. If you give me your frame number(you can email me thru my website)...I can get you a price for yours.

Greg

Just got some more parts back from the powder coaters. Had the forks, rearsets and other brackets coated in a mirror black. Had to rebuild the forks....new oil and seals. Should be able to get some of this assembled in the next week or so. Starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel.

Here are a few pics:

P.S. If anyone needs factory OEM parts....I am now setup online to order parts. Drop me parts request and I will try and get what you need.....as long as its not discontinued.

Looking nice.  Is the frame powder-coated?  It doesn't look like a chrome job.

Now I know that Greg doesn't mind taliking about this bike, and I don't blame him. Why don't you go back to the beginning of this post and you'll find out, like I did, that it is an aluminum type
of powdercoat that gives the appearance of old nickle plating. There will be alot that you missed, if you just kinda browsed it. And, on his website, you'll see more plus you'll see other projects. If you'll completely check out this site, you'll never run out of this to look at, info to collect and there'll be times YOU can share withothers and help them out.     Later on,  Bill :)
