i know its cafe racer blasphemy but i just couldn't help it. I'm getting tires of paying $50 for point covers.

I love it...and I'm sure Cafe loves the CF... that's what I have on my KTM dirt slinger...and I call it SPEED EQUIPMENT... GOOD STUFF! I was under the assumption that shavin' pounds n' going fast was what CAFE RACIN' is all about! Keep us posted!

I made a carbon fiber exhaust can for my cafe. If the material had been around back then it would have been used and the way I see a true cafe should be done with materials and parts that are free or cheap to keep the correct essence. Built by hand on a tight budget.

Now if you can fab me up some nifty covers with vents for my Ultra Modern (not period correct for cafe)but overheating optic ignition sensor, that would be great!!

VINTAGE cafe....yeah a problem.

In the TRUE spirit of cafe....of course! USE IT!

Cafe racers are all about mixing and matching the best of the best. Make~model~year....who cares......put it together and do the ton!

In short, go for it.

I have worked with fiberglass but am completely clueless as to how to mold a CF part. Would you give me a short spiel on how you made the mold and layed up the part.

My gas tank and seat are made of aluminum. I has Sean at Roc City Cafe do mine. Everything else is me.

the points cover in the picture i just overlaid the original part in carbon, them popped it out. i curt a new gasket out of 3/32 to help fill in the slightly larger piece. it fits good but i made a mold to vacuum form the next one. the stator cover i used the original part as the mold since it was just a piece of domed aluminum. i didn't feel likr being bothered for a cosmetic piece. i'm currently laying up a front and rear fender.

they are epoxy resin. if you over-tighten them you will crack them. i used some 1104 bond to hold the gasket in place then snugged it down. i'll have to use some thread lock on the bolts to make sure they don't come out. the thicker gasket should keep the points dry. i wasn't very fond of the one in the gasket kit to begin with.

the stator side is made for a 350 Four. i'm not sure if it will work with a 400 500 or 550. it's not going to work with a 750. but the points cover will fit any SOHC honda four. they're all the same diameter, the only difference is the clock position of the bolts. i hadn't really thought about selling them, do you want raw carbon fiber or do you want them with urethane clear on them? the ones in the pic are cleared very glossy with a lot of depth.
