FWIW:

I was in the Army, then got out and went in the Air Force a few years later.

I am currently in the Air Force.

People do it...my dad was Navy during WW2, after the war, joined the Army for another 23 yrs..on the other hand, a motorpool guy isn't quite the same as combat infantry..even in a war zone

I don't dislike Joe, I just disagree with much of what he says....and I do get the impression much of it is merely to stimulate a response from the other side...

Really,as a motor pool guy,I was in a war zone most of the time. The grunts on the front lines need supplies,so there I was,in the front half the time with the combat grunts,t

Its just a shame because stories like this give other countries the wrong impression of the USA and then the same people who came up with these stories don't understand why other countries think we are ignorant and selfish.

Thanks.  You really ARE a hateful little worm, huh?

Amazing how worked up some of you get when somebody dosen't agree with you.  Can't handle it....tough $hit.

I left the Army, wanting a break from the combat I had seen in the Gulf war.  7 months after I came in the Air Force, I deployed to Iraq assigned to an army unit....planted friends there again....

8 months back from Afghanistan currently.....had some close calls yet again, and lost another buddy.

Then again...some us don't care what Europe thinks of us.....after being freed from Hitler, the only thing we want to hear from Europe is "THANKS".

the two things I fnd offensive aout this are 1) it totally discounts and trivializes the efforts of all the Europeans who were fighting there before we got involved and 2) it is just wrong to expect to be continually "thanked" for helping someone else, no matter what that help was for, and most especially since there are hardly any Americans left who were involved in that ordeal and the great majority of us here in the states had absolutely NOTHING to do with it and so deserve NO thanks....

I'm not trivializing....the efforts of the French are well known.....cying into their handkerchiefs watching the Whermacht march into Paris.....Let's see...Italy, they were an Axis power, Spain????  oh, they were with Frnco...Poland?  Annexed, Czech?  annexed, Austria?  annexed, and on and on..England?  YES, they did a wonderful job....but without the US coming on board, it wouldn't have ended the way it did.

Anyone who has lost family member in that war most definitely have a stake in it, and were touched by it.

It really chaps your a$$ huh???  The idea of American Exceptionalism versus blame America for everything int he world?

What I don't understand is why is it that people who hate what the US stands for so much....stay here?  I'm quite sure Castro could put you up with room and board.

Prior to coming to this site, I had no idea Portand was merely a northern suburb of San Francisco.....I bet the taxes msut be enormous....paying for all the dregs that demand free this and free that.

New Zealand, Australia, India, Canada to mention a few Joe they were there while you guys were wondering whether to join the Bund or not, so not just Europeans read history and learn it or shut in front of your betters.

Come on Joe, something is going on here, you get pissed off when i mentioned that we all know you are in the Army, your words mate, then you give us another story about leaving the army and joining the Air force, i would say "convenient" as well because it suits your story, where exactly does "hate" fit in there. You have a tolerance problem mate, when things don't go your way you start labelling people and everything gets out of hand. I just re read this thread and the thread where you CLEARLY state your years in the army and make no mention anywhere of the air force.
When were you in Korea?

And never underestimate the Aussie and Kiwi troops mate , we are well known for getting the jobs done no one else is capable off, Our special forces are second to NONE, so next time you want to rave on about how good {arrogant?} America is,  do some reading because your version is fanciful........

Mick

PS   I checked the postings Joe posted in the other thread and they are both Army and Air Force.
Which makes me wonder why you got so defensive when we started saying that you were in the Army.....Are you just trying to wind everyone up Joe ?  Some stuff is funny, other stuff is just plain stupid..
