Think I should keep the stainless plate as is or powdercoat it black?? Seems like it gets dirty fast.

Haha thanks dude! Thats cool, probably have to have that done before the waterjet though... Just watched a video of it, had never actually seen it done before.

Havent hooked up the speedo yet, doing a bunch of rewiring first. Ya you can program it to just about any engine as I understand.  My ignition is a pamco and ultimate coils. Should wire to one of those wires... ;D

Its an expensive gauge but it is very good quality and waranted till you sell it. Im eager to see id the speedo gps ever "kicks out"

35/40w huh? so then no need for a relay? Im already setting up a relay but i like the idea of less draw on the charging system than this 55w I have...
Go with the relay no matter what. I'd also use a relay for your ignition.....it makes a noticeable difference

got the front wheel back on the ground.


Decided if im adding relays, rewiring my regulator, and adding the gauge wiring, why not just rewire the whole damn thing and have a clean wiring harness with no extras...

thicker wires coming from the alternator..


organizing relays, fusebox, etc...


laying out wires...


new harness.. still need to hide areas with black tape...


To Do:

make brackets for my front fender
add connectors to harness and install
install new back tire, rear bearings, and rear brake shoes
Get loud ass horn and install (Stock horn had to move because of fork, louder horn going under hump.)
brake fluid
oil lines

If you make some windows or cutouts in that guageplate,it will look less fat or bulky...sorta racier ..

It's a Harley wheel. Holes in the gauge plate are an option, but its hiding wiring:)

Been working on some brackets to hold the front fender. I've been very lucky to be able to sneak into the shop at work after hours. They have more equipment than I can ever even figure out how to use. So I stick to the basic looking stuff, although the two bridgeports are just staring at me every time I walk by:)

Big ass bandsaw...


I mocked up the general shape with cardboard, scanned it into cad and output it. There's some tight tolerances around the fork but I think I'm ok. I thought I grabbed aluminum but it ended up being stainless, pita to drill my holes! Got one hole left...


Will need to fold them up and powdercoat them...

Pretty lucky.. having access to so many toys. Your bike is coming along pretty good. I agree with going with all new wiring. Makes the process of elimination a lot easier.
'73 CB750k engine, hubs, and a '76 tank, on 'a 78 frame. Go figure.

Gotta order a new battery, Just got an email about a new scorpion battery coming out. "scorpion stinger", supposed to have much more voltage, or some crap.

Also ran into some trouble trying to mount my oil cooler back up. The fender might hit it if I hit a big bump... Would it be crazy to mount the cooler infront of the forks? I might just need to find a slimmer oil cooler

ok its been a little while, but things are still moving...

754 is making a new stem for me out of 7075 AL. Once I get that things will move much quicker. When its all fit up, i can upload some dims of it if anyone else is doing this conversion.

Since I sold my controls as a package with my old clubmans, I rebuild/powdercoated  another set of controls...


I was going to run the wiring through the clipons, but im a little weary of affecting the integrity of the bar. And you would actually see MORE wiring by running it through. So ill have to file a slot in these controls for the wiring.

Ive been thinking and thinking about how the headlight will be mounted, and was looking for inspiration, when I came across how the headlight is mounted on earlier ducati monsters. It looks like it has standard headlight brrackets, but it is actuall bolted to the lower triple. So I bought one...



And it comes with a headlight, looks shallower, and probably gives better light. Anyone know what kind of bulb it is?



Also ordered new tires! I bought the Shinko 712's. I know theyre not spitfires, but they are getting awesome reviews, and the price is great. I think they will be perfect for my type of riding.  110/90-19 on the front, and 120-90-18 on the back. Im running a 2.5x19 harley rim on the front.

lastly, 754 made me these awesome hubcentric rings for fitting the hayabusa rotors on the harley rim....



Do you know if 754 would be willing to make some more of these rings to fit the hayabusa rotors on the harley rim? I need a set and wouldnt mind paying for them in the least bit

ask him :)  If he uses my drawing, have him take a tiny bit off the inside- maybe .008, mine was a little tight but I fit a sanding wheel tight inside it, and turned it with a drill for a few seconds.

I cant really measure what I took off now, but one side was tighter that the other, and thats not your machinine, but the actual hub varied. I took off a measurable amount and still ended up with a light press fit. The outer dims were perfect. I think .008 total and it would slip on nicely. But he should also measure for himself. I have the drawing still if needed.

fender is from a 1984 honda vt700. I had to make brackets as seen above.

Original drawing dims are 2.21 ID, 2.71 OD, .2 Thickness. But frank added a little taper to the upper, outer edge to accomodate the slight chamfer on the rotor.

Finally got her out for a spin. it was raining so I was nursing the throttle pretty bad, but it still felt great.   Can't wait till the roads dry up so I can really get the feel of it.
I upped the idle jet from 42 to 45. Seems extreme, but his seems to have made my idle problems go away. Going to check the plugs and see if I should turn out the airscrews at all to compensate. I also went to 89 octane.
so heres where the carbs are at...


140main  (130 in dynajet numbers)
45 idle
needle all the way up (clip all the way down)

Factors:
836cc (ebay flattops)
ported and oversized intake valves
webcam 41
opened up air box
4 into 1 mac with no packing
pamco ignition
ngk d8ea plugs




Gotta get rid of this header wrap. I got some oil in it and it just wont stop smoking.

WOW, I would have never guessed you would need to jet your carbs like that. Seems like it would be way rich. Curious to hear about your plugs.
