I have read through and really do not want to trudge through it again. Have you determined the year of the bike, and do you know the years and the rider that rode it at Imola?

Well, I read all 11 pages and never have I seen a topic get more sideways than this one.

Nice bike, if it were local to me I would be seriously interested.  If it started and ran i would pay $3000 with a clean title.  But that is just what it is worth to me.

The more I think about it the madder I get.

It's a HONDA, you do realize that...........

If anybody on this site actually had 3 grand of dough around, they would be on the Ducati forums. :D

We like Hondas because a motor is $150.00 on E-Bay, c'mon now!

This thread is entertainment, nobody is mad at King, Justme, or anyone else.

ive been following this thread in amazement for a few days and taking kings advise and remaining silent,
justme: i think you have a really cool little bike there with some really nice parts (body work, wheels, tank, clip ons, etc.)
i wonder if it has any engine mods? were you able to determine what material the tank is made from?
although it looks a little rough from sitting i bet it would be one hell of a fun project to bring it back to its former glory, i wish i didnt live so far away.
in my NON-EXPERT opinion i would think that in its non running condition with a title that somewhere in the range of $500 to $750 would be a price that i would think is fair, but who knows, put it on ebay, it will be interesting to see how much it really brings.
                     good luck!

Yes, if you place it on ebay it would be great if you could post a link to the page so we can follow along. I would like to see what happens. Personally I would like to see you get top dollar for it, what ever top dollar is for that little gem..

Does anyone know where I can get body work like this?

I love it!

Is this a certain maker, or is it a generic dunstall copy or something?

that is killer body work, not in the greatest shape, but not bad either... im still going to go with cb500. it appears to have stock handlebar controls, and i think turning off the headlight died with the 500, clutch and sprocket cover would tell a better tale.

im not doggin anyones beliefs here.... but religion on a honda forum? really?

theres only several pages of threads with the word religion in it.   If the non religion guys would of ignored the "very vague" mention of prayer life, maybe the thread would of stayed more on topic.

I think she mentioned that it was a 500,one of the reasons the guy who looked at it passed. I would like to see a better pic of the exhaust, engine etc. Sure somebody on here who lives in Texas will be sniffing around to get a look at it.

Not so.  Headlight switch continued through the 76 550K models.  Then eliminated for the K model 77-78.
The Cb550F model never did have a headlight switch for all the years 75-77.
This info is for US models.

In Europe there was a Cb500 K3, that the US never saw, with the new style clutch and trans.  The shop manual shows several wire diagrams (and switchology) for various countries among Europe.

As this bike was imported from another country, only the serial numbers (or very detailed pictures) are going to explain what size motor it was when first sold.  And even then, who's to say the internal bits are still stock?

Further, switches can be swapped among bikes.  And a racer would want the option of turning off the headlight to add that wattage back to the drive wheel.  Might just make a 0.01 second advantage.  ;D
Or, it might keep the battery from running down while doing maintenance in the pits.
I'm assuming it is/was a real racer, or a copy of one, of course.  There are a lot of unknowns with this vehicle.

Cheers,

I'm in Texas, but I don't need to drive to San Antonio to tell the engine is a CB500.  Note the location of the clutch cable.
