Motorcycle Classics Magazine, get some!

Pinhead, Jerry Rxman Griffin, Bud R, Don R, JamesB. in the photo. Eydugster met us on the road and we rode the heck out of them for a few hours. Jerry headed home, then Pinhead peeled off toward home and Doug rode almost all the way to the motel with us. My brother and I haven't done this much riding in years. Our seats let us know.

Yeah, I'm thinking I'll have to brave the rain just so I can be a part of this. And I don't have a rain suit, I'll just plan on getting wet.

What hotel is everyone staying at in Chicago? I want to do the Chicago to Indy leg on Sunday, so I'd prefer to ride over to Chicago on Saturday and stay the night.

In NW Indiana, there are rooms for $140 in Munster (ouch) and $110-ish at the intersection 80-94 and Kennedy which is 3 or 4 miles from Illinois.  Those numbers are before discounts like senior ;), AAA, Gov, etc.  Downtown Chicago and Western burbs is going to be pricey... probably higher than NW Indiana.

Actually I reserved for 2. Just so happened that more people showed up and one even slept on the floor  ;) They didn't ask that, just how many I reserved for. That kinda brought the per person cost down a little. This is after all a motorcycle trip not a family vacation  ;)
As of today 3/13/2012 my original owner 75 CB750F has made it through 3 wives, er EX-wives. Free at last.  ;-)

Our pleasure Doug, thanks for working so hard so you could. come along. Did you tell everyone what happened to gee zee in Kansas?

Yeah, Godzirra got a bit out o' line...told him it was a BAD idea, but...

...Which resulted in him riding like this out into MO...

No confirmations so far from Columbus so I'm thinking a couple more days and our Capital might be a scratch. That is, unless, we all need to go to Iron Pony and pick up some rain gear at a good discount! :)

If Columbus is off the route, ideas for a route due north to Toledo? Not I-75. I mean part of the way on the interstate would be OK in the interest of time, but some 2 lane blacktop will be more interesting.

Spades, good news on your parts arriving. How far do you and your buds plan to ride?

Modzsquads here in Cincy is now iffy to do work schedule change, but might make a piece of the trip on Wednesday.

I may make a day trip over from Cinci to Columbus just so I can go get some pie at Just Pies. It would totally be worth a couple hours of riding in the rain for some chocolate peanutbutter pie.

I was planning on meeting up with you guys in Oregon, IL and riding to St. Charles and maybe to Joliet.  HOWEVER, the weather for me (and the bike) seems too dicey to commit, and I'll withdraw from the event.  DAMMIT!  I wish the weather was gonna be gooder, I'm really pissed.  >:(
In case you're wondering, the bike absolutely HATES getting wet and will refuse to run.

Steve, if the weather keeps you from riding the bike that doesn't mean you can't drive over and say hello. I would love to meet some of the other Chicago area members.

Ok Indy guys. Sunday is when GZ finds his way to your town. I've only been to Indy once, and that was for 2 days of work related training and I never left downtown.

So, you tell me where you want to meet and I will coordinate with you on a time.

Well, other than missing out on what looks like a nice ride north from Dixon to pick up Rt 64, there is no particular reason that we actually need to go to St. Charles. We could just as easily head to Joliet straight from Dixon. While I live in Evanston these days, I grew up 2 towns east of Joliet, so I know the area fairly well (I've been gone for over 20 years now, but still get down there no and again) and still have many friends from high school who live down that way.

I don't think that Don cares one way or the other as long as someone can meet him in Dixon and then show him the way to the next meeting point.

We could do the official meeting and exchange at Rt. 66 raceway or perhaps Willy World, a Joliet motorcycle dealership that has been around for many years. My dad and I were buying parts from them 25+ years ago.

I don't think it's closed guys. According to the article, they shut it down Mon. eve. to sanitize and brought in workers from other Portillos until the regular employees could be screened.  This is quite unusual for Portillos, I've been eating at Portillos since the early eighties and they have a solid reputation as a clean place with great food. :-\

I'm not sure what Don's plan is except to be in Chicago Saturday. His home is only a few hours away, so really he could be doing nothing today and tomorrow and just come to Chicago Saturday.

Auctually, we hurried home from ST Louis because no one had contacted us about meeting up, there was a big storm forecast, both bikes had issues, my clutch was slipping if I gassed it. The petcock fell apart on the back-up bike. We got both bikes working today, Friday  I have to prepare the race car and trailer for the Joliet race saturday since I won't be there with the team.

I will be working around here tomorrow if anyone wants to meet up nearby and tak Gee Zee for a spin, I may be riding to my favorite Honda shop (west Jersey Il.) to pick up parts for my petcock and brakes. Scroll back for my phone number and call if you would like to talk.

Thanks, and I am really stoked about riding with you guys. The entire Kansas crew was awesome to meet and had done some cool work on their bikes.  ;D

I am scrambling to get the new rear tire installed on my bike tomorrow afternoon. If I knew for sure it wouldn't rain Saturday I could live with the existing 35 year old rear tire for one more day (I am pretty sure it's the tire that has been on the bike since it was new) and replace it Saturday evening. But with the weather situation up in the air I really want to limit the wet road riding on the old tire.

I will give you a call tonight to discuss Saturday.
