What great biking presents did you get?
« on: December 24, 2010, 02:27:49 AM »
OK so it's probably a bit early except for our Antipodean friends but as I already had one great biking present so far I thought I'd see what you guys also got that was a top class bikers gift?

I'll start it off - my father in law has an appreciation of my obsession so he kindly paid for a huge crank roller bearing for my XV750 rebuild. Pretty cool Christmas pressie in my book ;D

The Wife bought me a cb350f. I had been storing it for one of her friends and told her to ask the gal if she'd sell it since it was obvious she wasn't going to ride after it sat for a year. A few days later there was a title in my stocking. I'll post pics once I uncover it. It needs a super deep cleaning but's it's not missing anything so I'm thinking I'll just getting it running right and ride it as is.

A Goldwing!

Major Wiffy points!  She wants to ride too and knows that riding 2-up on either of my SOHC4 bikes prolly won't work.  So she gave me a budget and said to go forth and buy!  Found a nice '82 GL1100 Interstate full dresser.  Needing some wrenching, but that's just fine with me!

I snuck down the stairs early and found Santa has left a complete OEM Honda tool kit for my 1980 CBX.  ;D  With a pouch!  The pouch is shot, but there is enough there for a pattern.  I can probably make one up that will be pretty close to the original once I find suitable material.  Really neat kit like this (#9):

I got a RapidAir kit for the garage. Kinda like wiring the garage with air lines and quick connect boxes where ever you want to route them. Plug in your air compressor in one location and leave it there.

Didn't get anything for the Bikes, but tomorrow may see me getting a start on having a 440 6pk engine (in the way of a shortblock and an aluminum Edlebrock 3 duece intake) for a build I'm Dodge Dakota planning. Then, IF that works out, I can work on saving up for the rest of it. Don't need it ALL right away, gotta get the '92 Dakota Standard Cab ready for a 440/727 install (it's getting a 440, whether it's a 6pk or not).

Here is the truck, it it's ugly state, for now:

OK so it's probably a bit early except for our Antipodean friends but as I already had one great biking present so far I thought I'd see what you guys also got that was a top class bikers gift?

Hmmm, father in law gave me this early. He didn't come round as planned for Christmas lunch so we took a ride up to him to see what the delay was. He had one last surprise for me - he was dead on the kitchen floor. We only buried my step-father in law two weeks earlier. Christmas sure did suck this year even though he got me a great present. Rest in peace Pete, we'll all miss you big fella....  :(

Waterproof boots! No more wet feet from ridin in the rain!!  but the big thing was my mom and kids were all here for the holiday. Last time we were all together at the same time was when my son got out of basic in 03. Got a really nice pic of him in his dress blues sportin his sergeant stripes along with his expert rifle and pistol badges. Proud parent of a U.S. Marine!

Sorry about your Father in law, Simon. It seems a bigger thing when it happens during the holidays. My dad died a little after Christmas in 97, a couple days shy of his 71st birthday. In spite of the things that kept us apart, he was a sailor before he was a soldier, I got my love of the sea and motorcycles from him, and I'm eternally grateful. Put that XV together and think of Pete when your out on the road...and best wishes for the new year.

My birthday is just 5 days after Christmas, so the two tend to run together. Today my sweety came home and saw that I'd had a typical Monday, and decided to give me my birthday present early and gave me a $150.00 gift certificate to Sport Tour Ltd.  ;D   I get new boots this weekend!
