Think it's time to buck up and put smoothbores on the race bike. Does anyone here have a lead on a decent set 29mm CR Specials that's being underutilized?

I see one used set on eBay in Canada that is of unknown history, but I'm kind of amazed there aren't more used sets around considering how long they've been available and how many are put on "custom" bikes that are probably only ridden a handful of times before they're put up to collect dust in the corner of a trendy clothing store.
They are relatively rare "race carbs", and tend to be expensive when you do find them. Have you considered Mikuni VMs?

CR carbs are worse than buying a new car. It seems as soon as they leave the original packaging, their value plummets. I just picked up a set that is all but brand new for $700 shipped. You can't touch VM29 smoothies for nearly twice that these days.
All you gotta do is do what you gotta do.

The Kawasaki guys are mad for 29mm smoothbore carbs so they’re selling for over $1K USD for a worn out 40 year old set of carbs. I bought new RS34’s for $700 USD for my 1100cc Z1-B, and love them. ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

The later ARD's (and it appears there are some different late model types) are also a magneto. The instructions clearly state; no battery voltage should be applied to any wire, especially the yellow which is a ground to a switch to kill the motor. Some have external coils and CDI box; other mark II types have points and no external box.

The cap appears to be from a Fiat, maybe X19. Possibly off of a Magnetti Marelli distributor.

Start searching for the 29 smoothbore spacing to 750 Honda carb adapter rubbers.  Sudco made some but I may have bought the last set in the wild. They are urethane rather than rubber. Edit; dime city and Z1 may have them now. Sudco 005.026 VM29 carb kit.

These are going on a late 650 head. I'll deal with and implementation snafu's when I have parts on hand. I have plenty of experience buying stuff that I thought would be needed for fitting other stuff on order, only to find out it was either the wrong thing or unnecessary.

I have an RC Weber manifold for sale. I bought this from Frank 3-4 years ago for $300 + shipping, which is what I want for it. It has been polished and the rc emblem has been removed. The only reason I am parting with it is because I found one in more original condition (thank you greggo!).

That's a sweet manifold corky, I got an MTC style one, it uses straight rubbers and makes it difficult to get on. It was previously broken and then welded crooked, so I cut it apart and made it a bolt together unit.
I've scrolled through here and searched ebay past sales. I'm trying to determine the value of an ATP early square fabbed and late style chromed turbo intake and a nice log style ATP exhaust with the back pipe and another set that a moron beat the snot out of. I'm sure it would take welding to repair it. Any ideas? Some guys on F/B were interested but I hadn't decided which ones to use on my build then.

Good morning Don!
Those MTP manifolds are nice in the sense I think you have more room for air filters.  Long story, but my dad bought a weber setup in the 70’s, and we lost the intake maniold some how.  I found this one from Frank, but really wanted to find one that wasn’t polished and more original looking.  I finally found an original, and figure I can’t use both of them, lol.

It’s always hard to price old performance parts.  They are worth a lot to a select few, but not worth much to a lot of people.  I probably value them on the high side because I am an enthusiast.  From what I have seen, I feel like ATP intakes usually bring in $250-400 depending on their condition, and exhaust manifolds I would think would be valued around $200-300?  Complete turbo/supercharger setups go for around $1500, right? I see a turbo charger header sold on ebay for a cb750 for $237.50 on august 28th this year that wasn’t in bad shape.
I tend to hold on to more then I sell anymore because it is so hard to find these parts if you really want something anymore.  Good luck with your sale Don!

Well, anyway it's a video of my ARD mark II mag firing 4 spark plugs. It didn't need a battery contrary to some opinions. I threw a crank in an old block with three main bearings and some assembly oil, put the mag in it and spun it with a drill. There may be other models that need voltage but I wanted to show you don't hook this one to a battery unless you want to kill it.

Try linking the FB post Don, that was the only one that worked for me. Yep I'm pretty sure that the benefit of installing an ARD magneto is so you can delete your battery. (and alternator etc) ;D

Does anyone have a single Koni shock or an inexpensive set that needs a rebuild. Koni #K6-1302 I believe.  12.5" aluminum body.

Sean, the 76-1296 is the correct number for the CB750 application. The K6 series appear to be automotive applications.

The melted sticky rubber indicated by the pen is a top out washer that is in some koni's but not all of them. The rebuild kits don't include that part because the shock doesn't need it. Go figure.
I spent hours online finding this info.

UPDATE....SOLD......It pains me to do this, but I have a fresh unused JMR Billet Block and Piston Set (JE 71.25mm) which I had planned for a build, but life has had other plans.

2600 + Shipping.  PM me for questions.....not a lot of opportunity to get one of these as I dont believe Mike is planning any further production runs.  Block is bored and nikasil plated, comes with base gasket and all shown.

Anybody have a CB500 crank that has good mains and could help get the rods ground and crank balanced? Like maybe just send to APE for me if they will help and I can handle from there. I’m in Norway and not able to find anyone to help here so cheaper to buy a used crank than ship one of mine. It’s for a road racer.
