I need a set of lighter nuts too, the ones I have are quite heavy and hanging low  ::)
Chip the ice off them my frozen friend. ;) :D

I used aluminum nuts back in the 70's with no problems. Not sure whether they were from Yoshimura, Action Fours or ?? Might have come in a kit with the heavier springs and alloy spring retainers? They were probably 7075 aluminum.

You can buy TI nuts from McMaster Carr and drill and tap them metric

Curious, what is the actual difference in weight between stock and Ti nuts?

4 lbs!  Haha!

I dont care too much about the BIG weight savings, I just needed to replace the rods and nuts, so I figure this was a great route!

As soon as I have them here, I will weigh a set of stock against a set of Ti and will let you know. Ti weighs about 60% to steel. Will let you know what the outcome is. But remember these are moving parts, so every weightgain is advantage.

I bet most of you lot would see better weight savings if you stayed off the Wendy Burgers and out of Taco Bell  ;D  ;D  ;D

Of course at a svelte 215lbs, I really need to find a source of Ti nuts!

Yes, they are being made and I have put you down for one set, like you asked.
Lead time was 6-8 weeks, so I expect them anyday now.

Rob
PS. Just lookes it up, sent a PM to you on Febr 21st.

After a mishap at the firm that should have produced the Ti nuts, I got a releasing phonecall today that they managed to squeeze them into their regular production. Most of them are on their way to me now, arrive tomorrow or the day after.
I say most, 'cause this badge was 120 pieces and they made 100! >:( But at least I can supply the first people on my list.
Will contact by PM.
Thanks for your patience. This is not the first time a supplier let me down.

Damn.  Wish I would have read this thread sooner, would have been a great addition to my 915 build....  If you run another batch let me know.

Maybe my head builder ordered some extra sets? ;D

I have many Ti bits on my KTM's. Never thought about adding any  Ti to the FOUR. It would look great but would take a truck load of money to make any bi g difference to the big 4. I thing my best bet would be pushing back from the feed bag.
I have Ti footpegs as well as a Ti spring on the rear shock, Ti header pipe and carbon can, plus 20 bolts on the KTM. Huge weight savings
I have had Ti axle's in my hot little hands while touring the race semi's at MX and Moto GP races. It would blow your mind how light they are.
As my Olhins friend says " theres aluminum, magnesium, titanium and UN-abtanium", now put that ROSSI's forks back down and back away from the counter.
The older I get the faster I was.

I do not believe in pumping, very expensive Ti, into an old horse. But at the end of the rockerarms it makes sence. It is a, relatively, fast moving part. It helps ease the loads on the valvetrain. but it is never just one thing, it is a 'total-package' that would make a differ. Ti retainers, Ti nuts, lightened rocker arms etc.
Cheers,
Rob
