You know, as toothpick thin as these forks are, that's not a half bad idea!

Well i gave fiberglassing a cafe seat a shot. it did not work well. After i thought about how i would do it the next time, what it would cost and how much time it wold take i said screw it  and told my wife she was buying me a cafe seat for my birthday. She said "I dont care, its for my bike anyway". I didnt know till now but i guess because i painted the tank blue it is now "her" bike. Oh well, so i ordered a seat and they told me 2 weeks.

Looking at the measurements for the 110 it would not fit over the frame rails, and stays to narrow at the front. Thats why i went with the bates.
The 125 frame is about 7" wide in the seating area

Nope, just waiting to hear from the guy. I looked all over for anybody who had made the swap and found nothing. So ill be sure to post what i end up with.
I sent him my caliper and now i wait, he sent a picture of what he may use for the caliper.

oh so he is making you a bracket and such.
thought maybe somehow he was "converting" them

watch some of that inexpensive asian made stuff has very poor castings and fitment.
But some is actually good.  its hit or miss.  but if someone is doing this often i would hope that they sought out a good supplier.

Cut the seat down and pulled the airbox. I also made a inner fender out of aluminum, and im in process of extending the wire harness. I cant help but feel that the hump is to big. How do you guys feel. Will it look ok? My only other option is to take it to a fiberglass shop and pay them to cut it, lower the rear hump and then fiberglass it back together. Lots of work.

I think it does look a little robust in the back.  Have you thought about maybe a 1/4 fairing on the front to balance it out?

Ever done any glass work?

Very little, on surfboards. Not confident enough to start chopping on this $$$$ seat.

Took the seat to a fiberglass shop and he told me it would take a few hours at $90 an hour. So that was out of the question. The guy explained how he would do it and then gave me some glass mat and sent me on my way. So i chopped up the seat and i have started to glass it back together. I hope it turns out good......I knew that if i left the seat as it was i would hate it forever and it would always bug me so chop chop.

I would have thought with a name like Lola, you want a bit of a bustle. ;) ;D

Have to agree, it is a bit out of proportion with the rest of the bike.

Might want to figure out the mounting solution now.  Just in case you have to 'glas' in some mounts.

seat fiberglass work is basically done and i dropped the tank down about  3/4 inch in the front. Now i just need to drain the gas and send the tank and seat out for paint. I also ordered a set of clip ons and new fork ears.

Working backwards,
forks are coming off today and then the frame will be bare. I think ill just paint it black again but have had thoughts of painting the bike red and the frame red as well. Not sure how i feel about it.

What'd you do to drop the tank?  Looks sexy.  Are you gonna use the stock bars or run something else?
